Wenn s Keschde gibt, gibt s auch Woi. Botanisch gesehen gehört die Esskastanie zu den Buchengewächsen wie z. B. auch die Eiche. Mit der Rosskastanie, die zu den Rosengewächsen gehört, ist die Esskastanie trotz ihres ähnlichen Aussehens hinsichtlich der Samen, nicht verwandt.
