Amanda in Kyoto: September 2007
http://amandainkyoto.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 24, 2007. Duck, Duck, Goose. Remember how I said I’d be working at 2 Junior High Schools and 5 Elementary Schools? The kids are really cute and energetic! Many of them are excited to learn English and even more are interested in talking to me and playing with me during lunch or after school. They know very little English, so they tell me stories and ask me tons of questions in Japanese. Saturday, September 15, 2007. Let the Self-Introductions Begin! In Japan the school year starts in Ap...

Amanda in Kyoto: Winter Vacation Part IV-Tokyo
http://amandainkyoto.blogspot.com/2008/01/winter-vacation-part-iv-tokyo.html
Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Winter Vacation Part IV-Tokyo. My flight back to Japan went in to Tokyo and I was hoping to spend a few days there, but hours before my trip began I had no idea where I would stay in Tokyo. I was afraid I would be leaving loved ones in the States to spend the New Year holidays in a hostel all alone, but a friend came to the rescue just in time! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Get Out The House! The weekly adventures of a pair of friends separated by half the world. Earth Love Festival – 5/5/08 May 6, 2008. 8212; aerekson @ 1:56 pm. I found the website for a shop called Veggie Sweets. A couple months ago that looks interesting. They make vegan cake and ice cream and I’ve been wanting to go but there is no map and I don’t trust myself with Japanese addresses at all! The other day I checked the website again and there was a post about the Earth Love Festival (地球愛祭り). You are com...

Amanda in Kyoto: Get In The House
http://amandainkyoto.blogspot.com/2008/04/those-of-you-who-have-lived-with-me-and.html
Sunday, April 27, 2008. Get In The House. Those of you who have lived with me (and probably most of the rest of you) know that I'm a total slob at home, so you can understand why I haven't posted any pictures of my apartment yet, but a friend was coming over for dinner and LOST so I cleaned all weekend! It's not perfect, but it's very clean for me, so here you go:. First, my building from the outside, I live on the second floor. Here's a rough layout for reference. The front door is in the kitchen. Keep ...

Amanda in Kyoto: July 2008
http://amandainkyoto.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 19, 2008. The Year in Numbers. I have 8 days left in Japan, 4 days left in Kyoto, 1 day left of work and 0 days left of school. As I prepare to leave there are a few good-bye parties and ceremonies at which I'm supposed to feel sad about leaving and say that I had a wonderful time and that I will miss it so much. I don't think I'm doing a very good job because my automatic response to the idea of leaving is a big smile with excitement and relief behind it. I taught at 4 community events.

Amanda in Kyoto: Hello from Japan!
http://amandainkyoto.blogspot.com/2007/08/hello-from-japan.html
Saturday, September 1, 2007. I’ve come to Japan through the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, which is run by the Japanese government. JET sent me to Joyo City in Kyoto Prefecture. It is halfway between Kyoto and Nara Cities, which are both ancient capitals. Kyoto is known as the cultural center of Japan and is said to have thousands of temples and shrines. I finally got internet service at home today, so let the blogging begin! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Seattle, WA, United States.

Amanda in Kyoto: A Snowy Spring

Sunday, May 18, 2008. No, it's not snowing in May, that's my best friend Snow, from college! She and our mutual friend, Sumon, had been traveling around the world for 7 weeks. And made Japan their last stop! As always it's wonderful to have friends around! We didn't really do any sight-seeing but we talked and talked, and got out of the house. Hey,I was just placed in Joyo City and I was hoping that we could exchange e-mails. If that is possible, please e-mail me at shiroibara14667@yahoo.com. Evidence of...
