A Whole New Adventure: Marching Forward
http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2012/04/marching-forward.html
Friday, April 6, 2012. Anyway, March: two years in, two months to go. It's crazy to think that this whole Peace Corps Costa Rica thing started two years ago today. We've come a long way. We've been through a lot and it is kind of hard to believe that we'll be headed home in just a few short months. We'll be sad to see them [ Sarah and Molly. Two years in Costa Rica! My morning was dedicated to washing clothes. And then, since they were setting up the rondel. Tomorrow starts our "getting on the books" pro...

http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2012/06/may-departures-and-arrivals.html
Friday, June 1, 2012. May [departures and arrivals]. Orlando called us at 8 to see if we had anything planned for the day. An hour later we were meeting up to head out to the San Juan River for a day of adventure! We did parachute games and jump rope during the first recreo. And played elbow tag during the second one. Chris woke me up this morning and sent me packing to get some medicine. The medical office called in three prescriptions, hopefully I'll stop being sick soon. Prep, aerobics and more packing.

A Whole New Adventure: The End is Near [April]
http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2012/05/end-is-near-april.html
Friday, May 4, 2012. The End is Near [April]. April flew. It was a month filled with work, friends and the tedious things that are required in order to leave Peace Corps. We once again have found ourselves questioning where the time went. Then I looked through our journal and saw that we were just using every last minute to its fullest (well, almost every last minute.). If you're curious what we were up to last month, stick around. Here is comes. Don't come to La Colonia). Trees when we heard the aguacero.

A Whole New Adventure: The Big Move
http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2012/03/big-move.html
Saturday, March 24, 2012. Our old living quarters (during rainy season). The following August the "move" conversation started again. The landlord was threatening to raise the rent. Once again we heard endless talk of moving to this house or another. This time we decided to be proactive. We talked to a couple of people ourselves, letting then know that our host family may be moving and if they did so, would we be able to rent a cabina. Lots of natural lighting (we have two large windows and two doors that...

A Whole New Adventure: funding frustrations
http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2011/10/funding-frustrations.html
Sunday, October 16, 2011. Much like teaching a man to fish rather than just giving him a fish, we saw Peace Corps as a way to provide undeveloped and developing nations with human resources rather than monetary resources. When we swore in as volunteers. Then December arrived, and with it floods. After the first of the year, meetings were held with representatives from the. Ministerio de Educación Pública. Usually the Ministerio de Educación Pública. Well before the flood caused the hurried move to the ne...

A Whole New Adventure: reading list
http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2012/07/reading-list.html
Sunday, July 22, 2012. One of the few constants during our Peace Corps service was reading. We were both voracious readers before landing in Costa Rica and that didn't change once we set foot in Ticolandia. We both read a wide variety of books both in English and in Spanish. During the past twenty-seven months we discovered new authors (Vonnegut and Toole) and reread favorites ( The Last Season. Here's a summary of what we read while living in the world of pura vida. Desert Solitaire* - Abbey (C&T).

A Whole New Adventure: From the Colony to the Village
http://tarahandchris.blogspot.com/2012/03/from-colony-to-village.html
Sunday, March 25, 2012. From the Colony to the Village. Yesterday, I finally delivered my service offered in the PCV charity auction. Friday night, I laid all my gear out then went to bed even earlier than normal. I was up before 5:00am, ate a little homemade bread, and was on my way a little after 5:00. The run to. Aldea was beautiful. The dirt road wound through cattle ranches, banana and pineapple plantations, and stands of trees full of tropical birds and howler monkeys. Starting nice and early.
