Steven Huynh: August 2010
http://blogstevenhuynh.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 6, 2010. I’m excited to incorporate technology into the curriculum. However, it’s important to remember that not all students have access to technology at home. Good teaching requires educators to know their students. Likewise, it’s important to know what technology (computers, Internet, cameras, cell phones, etc.) students have access to and are comfortable using. This can be accomplished through a simple questionnaire. Posted by Steven Huynh. Wednesday, August 4, 2010. It was interesting...

Steven Huynh: July 2010
http://blogstevenhuynh.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 28, 2010. I’m excited to integrate technology into the classroom. However, when it comes to using cell phones, I’m hesitant, primarily because of cost. “Currently a basic cell phone has the ability to be the students’ ‘Swiss Army knife’ of technology,” but in order to utilize its more useful features (Internet, etc.), students need more than a basic cell phone plan. How do we involve these students without drawing attention to the fact that they're part of the ‘have-nots’? Cyberbullying i...

Where the Math Meets the Mind. Where your wildest dreams will come true. July 19, 2010 in Uncategorized. After conducting a Google and Pipl search of my name and “handle” I was somewhat disappointed to see what came up and for reasons other than what you’re thinking. No, there are no pictures of me engaging in the inappropriate activities of days passed or wild, profanity ridden posts on incendiary topics, but. I believe people inherit the responsibility of Role Model when they accept the offer to becomi...

Steven Huynh: PowerPoint
http://blogstevenhuynh.blogspot.com/2010/08/powerpoint.html
Wednesday, August 4, 2010. There were a lot of things I liked about the PowerPoint presentations. A few items that come to mind:. James’ introduction to Algebra effectively simplified the information for his audience. The presentation appeared to be well planned and rehearsed with its timed animations and smooth transitions. Brandon’s presentation on major and minor thirds incorporated an engaging activity into the slides. Posted by Steven Huynh. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Where the Math Meets the Mind. Where your wildest dreams will come true. August 3, 2010 in Uncategorized. Manner, almost as if telling a story, which makes it less formal and more engaging. Tufte also says, and I have to agree, that PowerPoint is most often used to guide and to reassure a presenter, rather than to enlighten the audience. It’s a fine line we tread when using PowerPoint but as long as we are careful to use it as a supplement rather than a crutch, we should be ok. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.
