CMS Design

I don’t normally advocate creating a CMS from scratch, but enjoy the challenge none the less. As part of a proof of concept, I was tasked with designing the UI in answer to user stories; add, edit, delete, activate, and share, for the template manager. Product owners were keen to avoid the clutter and complexity of many CMS, which guided me to create a clean interface that feels easy to use. Design (UI, IxD).

Created for dev teams to track progress of ongoing work, I designed the UI, and developed the front-end. To efficiently design for varied screen sizes, design tools like Photoshop and Illustrator have limited use—prefering to use them for working out atmosphere and visual language of a design. I move to code as quickly as possible, dipping in and out of these graphical tools as I tweak and progress the work. On the subject of design tools, some of my favourite include; Modular Scale.
Avios

Avios were looking to refresh their site, and I was very happy to be involved as the lead designer on the project. Working remotely, and with the Avios in-house lead UX, and developers at their offices to work through aspects of design. Usability testing sessions were carried out in labs in London and Manchester, the results of which helped steer the work.

There’s times when information density is overwhelming for users. On this occasion I prototyped in greyscale with a very limited type-scale to help pullout key information, and create visual hierarchy. Animation combined with high contrast, guides the user towards the call-to-action. Design (UI, IxD).
