This is a tale of a man and his bus. Monday, March 22, 2010. My bus has Hehr L-2186 windows. These are aluminum frame windows, that hinge at the top and have a crank out arm that opens them. Here is a pic of the window open( from outside my bus). Back in 1999 I replaced some of the cranks. The original cranks had stripped gears. I thought I would post some documentation of the restoration process so that others may learn from my mistakes and my research. So as this blog thing is new to me.i realize I am posting this months after I have done it, but the hope is that it will be helpful to someone who has to do this. These screws go through the bus(door or frame) and then through some type of sealant(which is most likely useless at this point) and then into the window. After removing these screws the window may need to be pried off the bus depending on how sticky the sealant is.

This is a tale of a man and his bus. Thursday, April 1, 2010. So you have the window out of the bus. Now you need to take it apart. First you should remove the C-Channel from the rest of the window. This is attached by the 6 screws on the top, these are always exposed. If you 'open' the window, you will find a black gasket underneath, on the bottom, left and right. IF you peel this back you will expose 6 more screws(maybe more). These are the other screws that hold the Sash. At this point you have:.
