Into the wild blue yonder…. It’s been about a year since I’ve been out here. A year ago,. I did not think I would be on the ground in Afghanistan within a year. I did not think I could see past the next few days, much less week, much less month. I did hope and pray for the best, despite the circumstances. Into the wild blue yonder…. It’s been about a year since I’ve been out here. A year ago,. I did not think I would be on the ground in Afghanistan within a year. I did not think I could see past the next few days, much less week, much less month. I did hope and pray for the best, despite the circumstances. C: “I think you should write a book. don’t waste your sufferings”. Lots and lots of flying. The things said/done, and worse-implied/suggested, were as sickening and insulting, as devastating and painful.

Into the wild blue yonder…. After 8 hours of work on the jet, I passed out. Cold. Last memory was watching my console and ensuring we safely connected with our aerial refueling tanker. Next memory was waking up to see a blank screen, wondering why my screen was off, looking at my watch, and wondering “holy sh*t” what time is it? I feel like my body contracts itself. Fabulous yellow roman candles. Exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes aww. Tuesday, January 6, 2009. I'm just not there in the streets. Books and stories and movies and imagination have created this fantastical fantasy. The land of pleasure. Where satisfaction drips like tree sap. 4 more days until i shove myself into the alps. Knowing no word of italian. Another new year and i jump on the reflective pensive bandwagon. Or so i feel.
