Kevin Jansick. Advertising. Work. Life

Sunday, August 26, 2012. Welcome to The Windy City. It didn't happen as I packed up all of my stuff into a pickup, or when I stacked my furniture into a tow behind trailer, but I knew the second I crossed into Illinois I had made a life changing decision. From toll booths and trains, high-rises with food delivery service, taxed groceries and overpriced (often under cooked) cocktails– I was a long way from my Minnesota mason jar roots. If the opportunity to pack up everything and go somewhere that you are...

Kevin Jansick. Advertising. Work. Life: The future starts now

http://www.kevinjansick.blogspot.com/2011/11/future-starts-now.html

Friday, November 4, 2011. The future starts now. Yesterday the New York Times ran an article. That highlighted Nielsen's third-quarter findings for mobile users. A staggering 43% of people have taken the leap to smartphone technology, and for users 25-34, that number is a whopping 62%. Interestingly enough, the fastest growing segment of smartphone adopters are between 55 and 64, and while only 30% of them are packing, that number jumped five points this quarter. With this, we're nearing the end of the "...

Kevin Jansick. Advertising. Work. Life: A Minnesota Rebrand

http://www.kevinjansick.blogspot.com/2012/03/minnesota-rebrand.html

Wednesday, March 7, 2012. I'm a lifelong Minnesotan and I couldn't be more proud of my Midwest heritage. But as a Brand Planner, a big part of my job is understanding consumer behavior, and knowing the nuances of different cultures is an important weapon in any planner's arsenal. So when the opportunity came to make a move (to the still Midwest) Chicago I had to jump on it. Check out the timelapse above and be sure to take a look at some of the snaps after the jump. Kevin Jansick. Advertising. Work. Life: January 2012

Thursday, January 26, 2012. My 2012 Resolution: Tell Better Stories. I was lucky enough to recently have lunch with Adrian Ho. Founding partner of Minneapolis strategy hot shop Zeus Jones. And an interesting topic came up that sparked my resolution for 2012. So while I've pounded my chest in the past about being fearless, leading our clients and respective agencies in bold new directions, and disrupting the status quo– I'm going to focus my energy in 2012 to master the art of storytelling.

Kevin Jansick. Advertising. Work. Life: May 2011

http://www.kevinjansick.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 23, 2011. Planningness stormed MPLS last week and it was an amazing experience to say the least. So many smart people in a room, working towards pushing our collective profession forward was extremely educational, fun and above all inspiring. Dr. Pam Rutledge's "How to Communicate in a Transmedia World" session really got me to think about a post I've been meaning to write for a while now. What happens when this disconnect evaporates? When the change finally happens and you can use your TV as...
