The World from my Perspective. August 13, 2015. Long Time, No Posts. Here’s how my night went after eating, in list form:. Classical Concert in the Park:. Decided to go to the evil starbucks to sit outside and read up on Bernie Sanders. On the drive over i noticed that there was an event going on in the park by the train station. I parked and walked over to a nice classical music concert. I took in two songs and went over for an iced coffee at the evil empire. Does Hillary have a shot? Share on Facebook ...

Kenya! Holy Smokes! Never Saw That Coming!!!: April 2014
http://americanfamilyinkenya.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Friday, April 11, 2014. Last month we had a great vacation in South Africa. After awhile of living here it is nice to visit a place that is a bit more how should we say it . "developed". We enjoyed the food, the smooth roads, the organization, and basically just the ability to be a bit more free to wander. We also were excited that my parents where up for meeting us there. Huge gondola to take us up Table Mountain. After our time ar...

Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Lake Baringo and Baseball! Due to the 50th anniversary of Kenya's independence the whole family had a surprise four day weekend. The actual anniversary was last Thursday (Dec 12th) but then the government at the last minute decided to make Friday a holiday too - so walla - four days in a row off! And had heard about this camp on an island in the middle of the lake. View from the tent. Matthew has been pla...

Kenya! Holy Smokes! Never Saw That Coming!!!: June 2014
http://americanfamilyinkenya.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Friday, June 27, 2014. Today was spent at Ballenberg. Here's a short video with mom and daughter learning to weave on a loom and some of the cool machinery in action. Sawing off a piece of wood in the shape of Switzerland. On our way back to town we happened across the longest playground slide ever - it was like a real-life version of Chutes and Ladders! The view was also real nice. Lovely walk after dinner in Sarnen. It was hard to...

Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Taking It Easy in Seville. Solution for Seville day #1 was to take a sightseeing bus. The kids loved it and we got a sense of the sights and layout of Seville. Later on we meandered through Seville's gargantuan cathedral. Inside of Seville's cathedral. No better way to beat the 100 degree. Heat than playing in the fountains. This ice cream was unanimously voted the best on. So good we went back three. We arri...

Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Monday, August 4, 2014. Barcelona is probably the biggest city we have been in on our trip and it has been a blast. After being in smaller towns and villages for a couple weeks we've been enjoying the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. A day after we arrived Carole and Stu and Uncle Kenny came - it has been fun seeing them after being away for many months. We departed on Sunday on a Mediterranean cruise. On our first day we went to.

http://americanfamilyinkenya.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Monday, September 23, 2013. We've received a directive to "shelter-in-place" and so we have. My office is closed today. Only essential personnel are to report to the Embassy. Even though the schools are open, the situation outside seems to be very tense, and we live so close to Westgate - we kept them home with us today. One of my big fears would be getting separated from the children, and I'm glad they're here now. The mall itself ...

Kenya! Holy Smokes! Never Saw That Coming!!!: Exploring Paris
http://americanfamilyinkenya.blogspot.com/2015/05/exploring-paris.html
Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Sunday, May 31, 2015. The past day or two has been a nice relaxed blend of eating and touring. Yesterday Kev and I went to the Montmartre Museum which is near Lonnie's neighborhood - lots of paintings and history from the revolutionary and Moulin Rouge periods. The grounds of Montmartre Museum. And spent quality time shopping and checking out neighborhoods. Waiting patiently for a baguette. They actually taste as good as they look.

Kenya! Holy Smokes! Never Saw That Coming!!!: March 2014

Never Saw That Coming! Schutzbank/Fleischer's family adventure in Kenya. Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Africa: Real and Imagined. As someone of European descent, it’s hard to walk around Africa without being aware of the slave trade, colonialism and the economic power outsiders continue to exert over her countries and her people. Given the history, sometimes I wonder why people are still nice to me here. Is it that East Africa was not the home of most slaves who went to the U.S? But, societies are like people.

It's been a busy fall with two Scout camping trips since Matthew started as a Wolf Scout (last year he completed his Tiger Badge). Camping in the bush at Hells Gate. Our first trip was to Hells Gate - cool name and even cooler park. The highlights were a canyon and huge hot spring pool. Our campsite was high above. Back a 2nd time the next morning.
