April 16, 2015. It’s the eye of the Tiger Hill. De nachttrein hebben we weer overleefd. Dit keer was het toch iets minder comfortabel, meer tussenstops en meer lawaai. De trein had ook een half uurtje vertraging dus toch 15,5 uur heel dicht op elkaar gezeten. Toch blij om er terug uit te kunnen. En zo zijn we dan aangekomen in Suzhou. Best een gezellig stadje (niet te letterlijk nemen hier wonen weer miljoenen mensen). Doet inderdaad een beetje aan als Venetië of Brugge. De tuin zelf mocht er ook wel zijn.

April 15, 2015. Your own personal Boeddha. Vandaag één van de uitstappen waar ik persoonlijk veel van verwachtte, de Longmen grotten. Kunnen slapen tot 8 uur, de dag begon dus niet te vroeg vandaag. We hadden er nog wel eens nood aan. Dan de bus op, eerste vaststelling is dat de stoelen behoorlijk oncomfortabele plastieken gevallen zijn. Een uurtje op die marteltuigen gezeten om gedropt te worden aan de site. De foto’s gaan de ervaring weer geen recht aandoen, maar we hebben toch een poging gewaagd.

April 20, 2015. And now the end is near. We zitten ondertussen al in de vlieger onderweg naar Abu Dhabi, het zit erop! Vandaag was het wat mistig wat in combinatie met de smog ervoor zorgt dat de zichtbaarheid wel erg beperkt is. Als dit onze enige dag in Shanghai was zou de Bund redelijk teleurstellen. Zoals gezegd zitten we ondertussen al op het vliegtuig huiswaarts, dus is het nu misschien ook een goed moment om iedereen van de groep te bedanken. April 13, 2015. April 13, 2015. Ain’t no Shaolin temple high enough. En de titel kan behoorlijk letterlijk genomen worden. Genoeg trappen gezien vandaag. Tot het eigenlijke klooster zijn we niet geraakt, de ingestorte brug kan er wel voor iets tussengezeten hebben. De verwachtingen voor deze bestemming waren (weeral) hoog, ze werden aanvankelijk niet ingelost. Een paar tempels vol toeristen met overal winkels, platte commercie, niet ons ding. Die mannen wat zien trainen, best geen ruzie mee zoeken denk ik.
