March 13, 2013. A couple days ago Mari and I visited Descanso Gardens. Spring is definitely happening over there. Many of the plants were exploding with color, much more than we had anticipated. The Tulips, Camellias, many of the CA natives (will do a separate post on them), and even a few Lilacs were showing color. Here are some photos taken during our visit-. February 19, 2013. Our recent warm weat her has motivated me to get out and take a walk around the neighborhood. Viewing the landscape and gardens at a slower pace is a nice change. Here are some things that caught my eye-. Lush grass in Moon Canyon. Entry gate with bell. Wall peek-through to tiled fountain. A cherry tomato plant that continues to produce fruit through winter! Sweet Violets reseed in gravel. Looks like winter is over. John Lautner’s third residential commission built in 1947.

The monks maintain the grounds impeccably. All aspects of the landscape have been carefully considered and detailed. 1 tsp olive oil. 2 cloves garlic, smashed. 28 oz can crushed tomatoes. 1 small bay leaf. 2 tbsp chopped fresh basil. Salt and fresh pepper to taste. In a medium pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. We had a nice and mellow 4th, the Sheriff was working and the Ferguson Clan had plans with their friends so it was a day with these cuties poolside with Grammy and Grampy too!
