Another Dayenu: November 2008
http://anotherdayenu.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Enough. Ya Basta. Khalas. Dayenu. Tuesday, November 18, 2008. Cynical idealism or cautious optimism? I have often described myself as a cynical idealist. From Al Jazeera, I learned a new phrase that I just might prefer: "cautious optimist." I like it. And I think it sums up exactly what myself and others in my life are feeling about Obama. We're optimistic, even hopeful, but.I mean it's still. The government, it's still. The United States, this certainly. Links to this post. Sunday, November 16, 2008.

Another Dayenu: brief passage from Edward Said
http://anotherdayenu.blogspot.com/2009/06/brief-passage-from-edward-said.html
Enough. Ya Basta. Khalas. Dayenu. Friday, June 12, 2009. Brief passage from Edward Said. I have been reading a lot of Edward Said since I got back from Gaza. This is a particularly notable passage I read today (from 'Secular Criticism'):. I'm thinking about what this means for me as a "writer". But he too once wondered what could possibly bring a person to order daily bombings. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). That word and body are all. We have to lay on the line". because life is a run on sentence...: September 2007
http://amyjays.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
September 29, 2007. Note of warning: i have terrible cramps today (yup, i'm broadcasting that on the internet! And took a heavy duty painkiller. so this post will either be overly verbose (although that wouldn't be so different than my regular posts), overly hopeful (THAT would definitely be different than my regular posts), or just a little confusing. Although also similar to my experience in the real world, i feel like i'm not really sure how to tap in and connect to all that possibility. And in those ...

Another Dayenu: January 2009
http://anotherdayenu.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Enough. Ya Basta. Khalas. Dayenu. Friday, January 23, 2009. Al Jazeera says "No Change". Now, let me be clear: I don't want to dismiss the power of the positive decisions that Obama has made thus far. I'm really glad that he's going to close Guantanamo and not torture people and talk to Iran instead of bomb them and not take away abortion rights. Really. This is good. It's not enough. Not nearly enough. And I want us to not blame Hamas for the fact that Israel just massacred over a thousand people in Gaza.

Enough. Ya Basta. Khalas. Dayenu. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. You are pure soul and made of ground". Lovers find secret places. Inside this violent world. Where they make transactions. Reason says, Nonsense. I have walked and measured the walls here. There are no places like that." - Rumi, Secret Places (from the book 'Bridge to the Soul'). Since Saturday, I've been reading a lot of Rumi and Hafiz. I don't know why.but something about their poetry feels like breathing. You are pure soul. While the sage,.

Another Dayenu: September 2009
http://anotherdayenu.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Enough. Ya Basta. Khalas. Dayenu. Thursday, September 03, 2009. The revolution will not be quanitified. Quick update, 'cause I don't remember if I mentioned this on this blog or not. I'm in grad school now.I started a week ago. Now, on to what I actually wanted to say. I don’t think that’s true. Sure, everyone loves to win.but losing a supposedly “winnable” struggle ALSO happens and that can be really de-mobilizing. Even if we do win, then what? The NPIC is trying to force our movements into a corporate ...
