St Vincent de Paul Community Development Organization. Thursday, 02 January 2014 19:48. I visited St. Vincent's again in June 2013. This time, we spent most days working with Mama Lucy and staff on organizational matters. But any free time we had was spent with the children at the rescue center. They are such amazing kids. With little access to resources, children are often withdrawn from school to care for sick parents and to support the family financially. Orphaned children often experience abuse and neglect in overextended families, as the burden of caring for additional children strains already limited resources.

St Vincent de Paul Community Development Organization. St Vincent's Rescue Center. The Rescue Centre began as a way to meet the immediate needs of orphaned children in the community. Today, 21 children reside in the centre. Children at the centre are cared for by a house mother and live in a household structured similar to that of the typical Kenyan family. All children attend primary or secondary school and whenever possible are reunited with guardians or extended family.
