Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Tuesday, June 16, 2015. How to Enliven Your Writing. I'm a big fan of character-driven stories, so when I read Peggy Archer's article on how to enliven your writing through developing your characters, I immediately asked her if I could share it on my blog. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I attended a program offered by the CatholicWriters of St. Louis. This is my ‘take-away’ from the program on creating characters:. Deciding: What we fee...

Kid Lit Life: Stories are Gifts

http://www.kidlitlife.blogspot.com/2013/11/stories-are-gifts.html

Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Wednesday, November 6, 2013. I've heard people refer to their love of reading fiction as a "guilty pleasure." They're only half joking. In the constant hustle of our wealth-seeking, have-it-all, do-it-all culture, to immerse oneself in a good story can sometimes feel like an indulgence worthy of the guillotine. But can you imagine a life without stories? Or the ever-popular good-triumphs-over-evil (as in Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl, Fablehaven.

Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Sunday, February 22, 2015. KidLit Picks - Maggie Mae: Detective Extraordinairre. When Grandma's fresh baked cookies are stolen, Maggie Mae is on the case. She gathers clues and interrogates suspects. She attempts to catch the thief in the act but is foiled by her own sneeze. Still she perseveres and saves the day (or cookies as the case may be), and like all my favorite detective stories, I couldn't foresee the ending. A very enjoyable read!

Kid Lit Life: Social Responsibility or Write What Sells?

http://www.kidlitlife.blogspot.com/2014/03/social-responsibility-or-write-what.html

Children's literature: reading it, writing it, and loving it! Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Social Responsibility or Write What Sells? Part of writing is reading. "Read what you write," is the saying among authors. I've heard it and read it hundreds of times. This is okay with me, since I thoroughly enjoy kid lit. It's made me think about my responsibility as a writer. Do I even have a responsibility or should I simply write what will sell? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Because kids have great books, too! Wednesday, March 20, 2013. 43 Old Cemetery Road: Hollywood, Dead Ahead. 43 Old Cemetery Road: Hollywood, Dead Ahead. Written by Kate Klise, illustrated by M. Sarah Klise. This book is really getting back on track to the Klise sisters' early works, and I love it. The plot was still pretty simplistic, nowhere near as engagingly tangled as Letters from Camp. Thursday, April 21, 2011. This site gives creative writing ideas for kids on different subjects. The teacher can use this site to build a lesson which plans to write their own stories. This site is loaded with stories and can teach one to write a story. There is a part that helps the child write their own story.
