Kidney Blog

Rob's kidney transplant journey. Wednesday, 13 May 2015. Work is going really well and I'm working four full days with a rest day on Wednesday. At points during the work day I do feel exhausted (usually around lunchtime) but once I get through that difficult hour I feel fine. So I'm trying to build rest into he middle of my days. I've felt dizzy and feint at times but my team are excellent and look after me well. My blood pressure is low and I'm taking tablets to try and push it upwards. Often after dial...

Kidney Blog: July 2013

http://www.kidneytransplantblog.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html

Rob's kidney transplant journey. Friday, 19 July 2013. Had a meeting with occupational health a 3 months ago and they agreed I could go back to work. I then had to wait a month to meet with my boss - but managed that finally and so I started work in August. Next week I increase to two full days which it good progress. We are now getting me on and off dialysis without a nurse - so we are getting ready for home dialysis. Inserting the needles has been challenging but we are used to it now.

Kidney Blog: January 2014

http://www.kidneytransplantblog.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Rob's kidney transplant journey. Monday, 13 January 2014. We started home dialysis on 6th January 2014. YIPPEE! In the three weeks prior to starting at home we'd been spending nearly 20 hours a week at hospital so we never felt like we got a break over Christmas. But this first week at home has been a revelation. It has been very relaxing and really felt like we've had a rest. Home Dialysis is brilliant it's the best thing to happen since I became ill. Feels like we've got back control of our lives.

Kidney Blog: Back to Work

http://www.kidneytransplantblog.blogspot.com/2015/01/back-to-work.html

Rob's kidney transplant journey. Saturday, 24 January 2015. I'm feeling much better and am preparing to return to work. We have reverted to dialysing every day which can be hard work as we need to juggle 2 hours dialysis (which takes 3 hours inc setup/set down) as well as try and have a life where we can actually go out some evenings. We found that dialysing alternate days caused me to feel more ill due to no blood filtration. My hands are no longer blue. phew! I want to return to work and have an appoin...

Rob's kidney transplant journey. Wednesday, 8 May 2013. 2 Weeks Post Op. All going really well since my operation. I'm up and about and almost pain free. I've been getting out and about in a wheel chair - Joybelle pushed me all the way to the Ridge and Furrow yesterday evening in the sunshine for a meal and a pint. Last week I had my back assessed because I was still getting some pain. The consultant arranged an xray which was quite ammusing as you could see all my metal clips - there are a bunch ins...

Kidney Blog: March 2013

http://www.kidneytransplantblog.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Rob's kidney transplant journey. Wednesday, 13 March 2013. I've been using my fistula for dialysis for 2 weeks now. The first two times it was used the vein blew and I ended up with a very fat arm full of blood. I've still got huge bruises on my arm nearly two weeks later. Because of the infection my consultant decided it would be best if I had my neck line removed as this is often how infection is acquired - so I had a mini operation on Thursday to remove the line in my chest. It's nice that its gon...
