Children's Literature Reviews

Highlighting the books that make kids want to read more books. Thursday, June 2, 2011. I discovered the books. Butterflies in My Stomach. You Are What You Eat. By Serge Bloch accidentally. I found the combination of simple sketches and photographs appealing, so I picked them up. I hope Bloch considers writing more of these books. To my knowledge, these are the only two books he has written and illustrated, although he has illustrated countless more books. Both titles would be great to pick up the...Grand...

Highlighting the books that make kids want to read more books. Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Brand New Readers Series. This series is suitable for a very specific audience, but I think it fulfills that need very well! I much prefer it to the books that occasionally substitute a picture for a word. http://kidsbookswelove.blogspot.com/2010/05/three-great-bedtime-stories.html

Highlighting the books that make kids want to read more books. Monday, May 17, 2010. Three Great Bedtime Stories. The perfect bedtime story lineup includes a touch of humor, a bit of whimsy, and wraps up with peace and comfort. The following three picture books are ideal for gradually building up to a relaxing bedtime for the 2-6 set. The Bunnies Are Not in Their Beds. Written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by LeUyen Pham, is a bedtime role reversal. (One of my previous reviews,.

This series is suitable for a very specific audience, but I think it fulfills that need very well! I much prefer it to the books that occasionally substitute a picture for a word. The best aspects of this book are the warm relationship between Theo and Grandpa, the bright colors, and the inspiration to create something even when it seems impossible. What If Everybody Did That? "Qutie Pies": September 2009

http://samquag.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 21, 2009. We took a trip to Indiana Beach at the end of summer. It was the perfect little amusement park for one Sam's age. He liked riding on these cars, boats, motorcycles, jeeps, and pirate ships. At first, he wouldn't really look at us or smile much. I think he was too focused on hanging on. Then, he eventually loosened up a bit, and started waving. My peaches and cream. 6th Grade Revisited - The Standardized Test. The Adventures of Two Little White Dogs. Flying Liver and a Birthday!

"Qutie Pies": February 2010

http://samquag.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 14, 2010. This is a long video, and I honestly don't know which is more entertaining. Mia cooing for the first time, or me trying to prompt her to coo. Just try to make it to about the 45 second mark, because that is when she actually starts to coo a little bit. I was entertained at least. Enjoy! My peaches and cream. 6th Grade Revisited - The Standardized Test. The Adventures of Two Little White Dogs. Flying Liver and a Birthday! Check out the new bakerella.com. Where Mommy and Daddy Met.

Monday, January 11, 2010. Hmmm, Mia, I think it's fun under here, what's wrong? Sam with the world's smallest snowman. This is before Christmas. There was probably only two inches of snow on the ground. We are ready to bake Christmas cookies in our matching snowmen aprons and oven mitts. Saturday, January 2, 2010. Welcome to the World, Mia! "Qutie Pies": In the Rainforest

http://samquag.blogspot.com/2010/02/in-rainforest.html

Sunday, February 14, 2010. Sam and Mia were enjoying some time under the rain forest mat. I think it's cute that Sam talks to Mia in a very high pitched voice-just like most adults. He always starts out with, "Hello, Mia, my name is Sammy." Too funny. He is such a great big brother. My peaches and cream. 6th Grade Revisited - The Standardized Test. "Qutie Pies": July 2009

http://samquag.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Happy Birthday, Mammy! We went up to the lake on Mammy's birthday weekend in June for a surprise birthday cook out. Pappy did a great job with the surprise part-Mammy had no idea we were coming up. It was a great day-and we had a wonderful time. Here are Sammy and Mammy with the birthday cake. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Once the cookies were consumed, I don't think Sam even realized he was. A train on the way home. He had quite the sugar rush. I think Daddy did, too. I'm a young mo...

"Qutie Pies": November 2008

http://samquag.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 23, 2008. Sam has recently discovered that he is able to build and create things with his blocks. It is so much fun playing with him and watching him make his block creations. Sam has a new winter coat this year. I think it's bigger than he is, but he just looks so darn cute in it. Unfortunately, we have had some cold weather this past week, so it has gotten quite a bit of use. Ring Around the Rosey. Aunt Sarah and Colts vs. Pats. These are pictures of Sam going "acker Treat! Sunday, March 15, 2009. We visited the Children's Museum recently with our friends Avery and Laurie Taylor. Sam hasn't been there for almost a year now. Grandma gave us a membership to the museum that we will be using quite a bit this year. The pictures below are a bit out of sequence. It starts with the last exhibit we looked at (trains) to the first exhibit we visited (Lego's). I'm still learning how this blog thing works. Sam also liked this small slide they had in the Lego's. Monday, September 29, 2008. What do you think-are they me? I just love Daddy's shoes. Sam is experimenting with Daddy's shoes in this video. This is becoming one of his favorite past times. The entire time he plays this game, he repeats, "Shoes? Sunday, September 28, 2008. Sam's favorite "game" lately has been wearing Mommy and Daddy's shoes around. Here he is in Mommy's flip flops. I think they go well with the Cubs T-shirt. Here is our little. My peaches and cream. Flying Liver and a Birthday!

Friday, November 6, 2009. Daddy dressed up as "Next Year.". Our neighbor's devilish car-it was in the parade. The three cars that led the parade. Here are some additional pictures of Halloween. There is another picture of the parade with the firetruck and cars. Also, one of the cars belongs to our neighbor across the street, it was decorated like a devil.
