Wednesday, 2 December 2009. Finally I meet someone who has climbed Killi. You are climbing Mt Killi. And every one seems to know someone who has been there, is there or is just coming back. We should have said we were walking in Northumberland. But for the first time I have actually met someone who has been up there. I met two brothers yesterday at the Whizz Kidz. Christmas do at the House of Lords. First people I have met who have climbed Killi. They have done it twice, the first time they didn't. I fig...

Wednesday, 30 December 2009. For Christmas I received a book on Kilimanjaro thanks to my dear skin and blister. Some stats that are a might concerning, like 10 to 15 people die on the mountain each year (apparently Tanzanian government. Are understandably cagey on exact number. Breach ( our route to summit) was closed 2004 for a while after rock falls and fatalities. But good news too, our route in is classified as moderate/hard and recommended. As it takes 7 days giving us longer to get acclimatised.

And they’re off | Kilimanjaro 2010
https://roofofafrica.wordpress.com/2010/06/19/and-theyre-off
How one man's mid-life crisis led us to the Roof of Africa. And they’re off. While England sleeps off the crushing disappointment of last night’s lamentable display against Algeria, the team was up early. We’re now popping an assortment of pills to prevent various maladies and with breakfast over with, we started our three hour drive to the trailhead, punctuated by a minor panic as Andrew remembered he’d left his phone charger in his room. Laquo; How many fleeces? Date : June 19, 2010. Easy does it….

How one man's mid-life crisis led us to the Roof of Africa. The Children’s Trust has been providing an outreach nursing service to Max. Because of his complex health needs the nurses have to be experienced and able to react to any situation that may arise. It is also vital that they are able to build a relationship and a large amount of trust with the family, as they spend so much time in the family home. Day 8 | Kilimanjaro 2010
https://roofofafrica.wordpress.com/2010/06/27/day-8
How one man's mid-life crisis led us to the Roof of Africa. We insisted on a late start today, and were woken at 8am. Today was a descent from 16,000 to 10,000 feet starting in the alpine desert where nothing much lives or grows, passing through the heather zone and finally back down into the forest. It was a strange sensation walking down into a cloud from above and, as we did, so our view of Kili’s snow covered peak disappeared for good. Laquo; Day 7. Date : June 27, 2010. WOW guy’s amazing! How one man's mid-life crisis led us to the Roof of Africa. Today couldn’t come sooner. Last night some of us were feeling quite ropey – Adam’s blood oxygen level had dropped from around 90% to 76%. Peter is not in great shape, his headache won’t go away and he’s feeling a bit nauseous – we’re all rooting for him. Laquo; Day 4. Date : June 24, 2010. Good luck Andrew wishing you all the best. https://roofofafrica.wordpress.com/about
How one man's mid-life crisis led us to the Roof of Africa. This is the story of how a simple mid-life crisis led to the formation of the Clapham and Fulham “Mountaineering” Society and our attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. On the 19th June 2010, Andrew, Adam, Peter, David and Jonny. Will set out with the renowned Kiliwarriors to conquer the world’s highest free-standing mountain. Apparently it’s been done before….but that doesn’t make it any easier! Our fundraising so far. Follow us on Facebook.

A revolution in braille accessibility. We fix the education gap for visually impaired children in Africa. We regularly review all countries where we operate to understand what number of Braillers are required to deliver a minimum level of access to all visually impaired students, and ensure that new Braillers are provided where needed. We also advocate on behalf of blind and visually impaired students from primary through university in the countries where we operate to try and unlock additional governmen...
