We learned about St. Margaret’s Academy in Tanzania through a long time friend and board member of Friends of Africa Education. A nonprofit based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, they ensure that 99% of all donations go directly to help three schools, one in Tanzania and two in Kenya. During our trip we will spend 5 days biking 250 miles from the foothills of Kilimanjaro to the coast, riding on dirt roads through remote villages along the way. After a day of relaxing by the ocean, we’ll embark on an 8-day climb to the top of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. The company we worked with during our first trip to Tanzania in 2008. Sene is owned and operated by a local Tanzanian and ultrarunner Simon Mtuy. During his record breaking assent/descent of Kilimanjaro in a time of 7:14.
