P2P car sharing? | Kill your car!
https://killyourcar.wordpress.com/2010/10/14/p2p-car-sharing
Two wheels good, four wheels bad. P2P car-sharing is a new concept being pioneered by at least three companies in the U.S.: Spride, RelayRides and Getaround It’s just like traditional car-sharing as practiced by Zipcar and dozens of other companies, but it takes the concept to a new level by allowing private vehicle owners to securely rent their vehicles to pre-screened and qualified members of the club. Before you yell, you better be right! | Kill your car!
https://killyourcar.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/before-you-yell-you-better-be-right
Two wheels good, four wheels bad. Before you yell, you better be right! Over the past four days, we’ve had a few run-ins with cars where they were totally in the wrong, and yet, proceeded to blame. Citing what we should have done. In SF, I’ve never had this much blame for when a simple “my bad” or “sorry” would have done; but to turn it around and blame us? Sorry but YOU ARE WRONG. SE Stark and 29th. Cruising with the flow of traffic west down SE Stark Street coming up to 29th Ave on the right. He juts o...
Apparently you need a reminder… | Kill your car!
https://killyourcar.wordpress.com/2011/08/18/unprotected-lefts-have-to-yield
Two wheels good, four wheels bad. Apparently you need a reminder…. When turning left at a green light but not a green arrow, you have to yield to oncoming traffic. It is the law. It doesn’t matter if there’s a long line of cars you’ll have to wait for, if you’re in a hurry, or if you think the cyclist will be too slow. You have to yield. The cost of car “freedom”: 2 hours of work a day | Kill your car!
https://killyourcar.wordpress.com/2011/05/10/the-cost-of-car-freedom-2-hours-of-work-a-day
Two wheels good, four wheels bad. The cost of car “freedom”: 2 hours of work a day. Imagine you could work 500 hours less every year. That works out to be an extra 12.5 weeks of vacation. Alternatively, imagine you got paid for an extra 500 hours of work each year, without having to work those extra 500 hours. That would work out to be an extra $11,000 every year for an average American making $22 per hour. Via The Urban Country Bicycle Blog: Americans Work 2 Hours Each Day To Pay For Their Cars. Car tramples over a dozen cyclists | Kill your car!
https://killyourcar.wordpress.com/2011/02/28/car-tramples-over-a-dozen-cyclists
Two wheels good, four wheels bad. Car tramples over a dozen cyclists. This is absolutely horrifying. More info and statements from the driver’s lawyer (he’s claiming self-defense) here. I watch this video and I am shocked, shocked! I don’t care your thoughts on critical mass or on cyclists; do any of them justify murder? Does no one ever realize that a car hitting a bike will always “win”? Self-defense or not, it’s like bringing a gun to a chess game. Tagged: car vs. bike. From your own site.

taking the lane: September 2010
http://taking-the-lane.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
A project to repeal oregon's far to the right and mandatory sidepath laws. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. The law of unintended consequences. So i went to this open house a couple of weeks ago for the davis street improvements project. Was there to explain the storyboards. Field questions, and listen to feedback from whoever stopped by. I think the larger point the guy was trying to make was that the project has been framed largely in terms of bike traffic. I talked with this guy for a few minutes, and a...
Utility Cycling Technology: Long nose bicycle steering
http://commutercycling.blogspot.com/2014/10/long-nose-bicycle-steering.html
This is a non-profit symposium about car free living. And low tech solutions. Monday, October 13, 2014. Long nose bicycle steering. Long bicycles need a more laid back steering axis to compensate for lack of weight on the front wheel, but this creates more wheel flop that is irritating on slow speed hill climbing. the only way to fix that is by shorting the trail. Even cargo bikes could be have a more laid back steering axis, but I would compromise at 65 degrees. December 31, 2014 at 1:06 PM. Subscribe t...
Utility Cycling Technology: Visualize This
http://commutercycling.blogspot.com/2014/09/kick-starter.html
This is a non-profit symposium about car free living. And low tech solutions. Thursday, September 11, 2014. I believe it would be very easy to get a 'kick-starter' grant to start building long low cargo bikes, in many different citys. Seattle would be a good place to start. And don't think that it would take a factory to make these bikes. It takes only a garage shop with the right tools. See 'cycletrucks'. And with the stock market ballooning up to much more dangerous levels than the 2008 crash, there wi...

This is a non-profit symposium about car free living. And low tech solutions. Monday, August 4, 2014. Payload is the weight the ELF will carry (driver and cargo) and does not include the weight. Of the ELF. (150lbs). We are required to limit max speed on flat under electric power to 20mph. 22% grade is tough and I have no data beyond seat of the pants but. We have been able to gear the ELF to meet our customers’ needs thus far. There are lots of ELF owners in mountain settings across the US and Canada.
taking the lane: down the rabbit hole
http://taking-the-lane.blogspot.com/2011/05/down-rabbit-hole.html
A project to repeal oregon's far to the right and mandatory sidepath laws. Thursday, May 19, 2011. Down the rabbit hole. Word on the street is that the stakeholder advisory committee process for the lloyd district bikeway development projects may be broken. A couple of the freight people have literally walked away from the table. And some of the commercial real estate interests are raising eleventh hour objections to stuff that was agreed to months ago. In the plan after all, etc. Here is some data that ...

This is a non-profit symposium about car free living. And low tech solutions. Thursday, June 12, 2014. The history of safety bikes. In the beginning there was a wooden two wheel cycle with no pedals, made to help French solders get all there equipment down a hill fast without running and falling. Then the high wheel bicycle so riders could go faster and crack their heads. Yet people still crack their heads even on the old style sit up straight safety bicycle because they want to go fast!
