Käsmu is a village in Lääne-Viru County in northern Estonia, on the territory of Lahemaa National Park. This ‘Captains’ village’ is located on the Käsmu Peninsula in the Gulf of Finland; and its population is 131 people. The earliest written records of a village in Käsmu date from 1453 where it is mentioned as Kesemo. In 1624 it got another name Kaspervik. According to one legend, this name was given by a Swedish captain Kasper, who survived after a shipwreck and built a chapel in Käsmu.

For many years our family lived in Käsmu over summer months and visited the village for holidays and short vacations. In 1970s-1980s Käsmu became a special vacation place for a group of professors and scientists from Russian Academy of Science, Moscow State University, and Saint Petersburg State University. Elena’s father Leonid Korniyenko, a well-known professor physicist of The Moscow State University, had been the life and the soul of the party.

Oldest 14 Year Old
My wife insists I am the oldest 14 year old in the world. My chronological age is considerably in excess of that. She also says she has three children, the one she married and the two she bore. I was 35 when we married, my oldest (a daughter) is 14. You can approximate my age if you want to do the math (Eeep!
