After dinner Khalid and Abduhl both had their credit cards out and they were fighting over who would pay for everyone’s dinner. I was so impressed and felt so bad at the same time! Abduhl ended up paying for our entire bill, and I couldn’t thank him enough. He said he was used to doing that. He explained to us that “that’s just how they are in Dubai”. What a wonderful thing to hear a man say! January 2, 2011. We were so pissed!

I think it is because the UAE, or at least Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are geared towards tourism. That is where they get a lot of there money from. This is one reason they are more westernized than other Islamic countries. They want westerners to be comfortable there.
