Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Day 25 - Sunday July 4 - Puna/Kona, Big Island. Soooo, surfing. My uncle-in-law took me out to a real local spot in Puna known locally as Pohoiki ( Isaac Hale Beach Park. Nearly all Native Hawaiian people. Felt like Hana. It's pretty rocky over in that area with lots of volcanic rock. The waves were about 2-3 feet. Checking out the waves, my aunt in the foreground. Me and my uncle-in-law out in the water. Lots of stands to buy food, drinks and little trinket at Maku'u Market.

Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Day 22 - Thursday. Thursday there was a litigation team meeting during lunch where we got sandwiches from Honolulu Cafe. Where I ate the day before. I didn't take a picture of it, but I had turkey avocado sandwiches that were tasty, but only had turkey and avocado - I wish there had been more ingredients. An attorney came back from the World Cup in South Africa and brought back from ostrich jerky for the office to try. I wasn't much of a fan since it's pretty musky tasting.

Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Day 27 - Tuesday - July 6. First day back from a long weekend is always a little hard, and this Tuesday was no different. For lunch I went to Fort Street Cafe. Which Yelpers had been praising for their garlic chicken. So naturally I had to try. I ordered the Garlic Chicken with Panang Curry. The garlic chicken is boneless fried chicken that has a fairly strong garlic flavor. It was delicious! After work I went to see Toy Story 3! And the movie was amazing! Day 22 - Thursday.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Day 21 - Wednesday. Wednesday was my first day staying late at the office. I needed to get my assignment done and since the internet was not working at home, I worked until 9:30pm and stayed until 11:30pm to use the internet. I was starving when I headed off the bus in the morning, so I decided to try out This is it Too. Definitely not as good as the bagels my law school roomie brought back from NYC, but definitely better than a regular CA bagel. Yay! Salmon salad - meh, not tasty.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010. Day 20 - Tuesday. Finally back to updating. Apologies for the delay - first it was lack of internet at home and then the weekend came and I was on the Big Island (more on that later). Tuesday was a fruitful food day. In the afternoon I had lunch with an associate at the firm at Grand Cafe and Bakery. Cola braised short ribs. For the evening I decided to go to Shirokiya. Oh my goodness I'm going to go back and buy gifts there. The mochis were tasty, and they all looked so cute.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Day 24 - Saturday July 3 - Kona/Puna - Big Island. Sorry for the delay - been busy/tired with clerkship stuff and other chores. But I hope to get back in the swing of things. Woke up at like 5:50am on Saturday to see if we could go surfing (i.e. if Kimi could learn how to surf). The water was very calm and my uncle-in-law's assessment was that surfing wasn't going to happen. So, we hung out, had breakfast, and fed the chickens and pig. Their pig named Dinner, can you guess why?

Monday, May 31, 2010. Things I'm Looking Forward To. All that being said, I've been doing some research and am looking forward to trying out a lot of eats by my studio and activities in the area. Here's my starter list. This place has all different kinds of musubi, including, yes, SPAM! Gyoza here is supposed to be great, ramen gets more mixed reviews). Supposed to be great sushi and the pictures of the tempura shrimp rolls look wonderful). Hana no Sato/Bento Box. And $4 Japanese breakfasts).
