How to gracefully (mostly) handle the adventures (crap) of life.com site. Laquo; Being right is the Ultimate Gardyloo. Don’t let the shirty people get you down! May 2, 2011 by gardyloos. First, I would like to thank all of you for helping me with my great technology experiment! I have continued to ponder words and their meaning, especially in relationship to our others. We have all been in situations where we. I hope that I am able to accept what life hands me with such a good spirit. He is going to ...

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. Tasty Tuesday: Rich and Fudgey Paleo Brownies. July 5, 2016. July 5, 2016. I’ve said before that I’m not a diet follower, and that’s still true, but I do lean more towards a paleo-like diet. I like the emphasis on veggies, and my husband likes meat; it’s a win-win. And I like that many of my favorite treats can still be enjoyed. Dessert without the guilt? Sign this girl up. Sorry, no, but who really wants that anyway? And word about the dates: soak in the boi...

4 Months Post and Summer Recap. | runrunmommy.com

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. 4 Months Post and Summer Recap. August 26, 2016. Holy cow does time fly. Seriously! My baby is now four months and I’m staring at the unforgiving face of another school year. Why is it we wait the entire winter for summer, and then is gone in the blink of an eye? Not cool, time. Not cool. I’ve been training for a half marathon in September and it’s been going pretty well. I’m hoping to beat 2:15, but I’m not stressing over it. ...So as fall descends, go ahead...

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. Apple Dumpling Days 1/2 Marathon Recap. September 13, 2016. I’m so grateful for how the race went, and even though I’m disappointed in my performance, I really couldn’t have asked for a better day. But there is a part of me that is disappointed. I’m disappointed that I didn’t meet my goal, and disappointed that, had I pushed myself just a little harder, I would have. In bed by 9. Miles 1-4 at about an 10:30 pace. Just hang on for the last three miles. I k...

Battling Excuses | runrunmommy.com

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. November 4, 2016. The Rails to Trails half marathon is staring at me from Sunday. While physically, I know I’m set (provided my knee doesn’t give me any issues), and mentally I know I can rock it, I’m still surprised how easily excuses can creep into my mind, even days away from the race. So why then, when I walked out the door this morning for an easy 3 mile run, I still had to fight the excuses in my head? This will be miserable. Excuses #1: I’m tired.

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. Comparison: The Joy Thief. June 27, 2016. June 27, 2016. Have you ever looked at another person and thought, “Boy, they have it easy.”. If you’re like me, it’s the runner moms who can crank out 7 minute “easy” miles mere weeks after having a baby. While pushing a stroller. Ugh. Not fair. Comparison is such a deadly trap. Why is it I can’t just smile give them a mental high-five and keep scrolling? And those good feelings can quickly dissipate the second I let...

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. Adjusting to the Unexpected: Rails to Trails Half Marathon Recap. November 15, 2016. November 15, 2016. This post is later than I wanted, but school duties, sick kids, and family visits have a tendency to take priority over blog writing. Alas. The race was about a week ago, and as I sit here writing this, I’m fully recovered and ready to plan the next goal. I had my goals for Rails to Trails:. Break 2:15 (the easy/ almost guaranteed goal). I hadn’t prac...

Running, eating and adventures in motherhood. Lessons from Cross Country. September 23, 2016. September 23, 2016. This past Saturday I was able to attend a cross country meet of my former high school. I knew a couple of students running; one was actually a former student of mine! It got me nostalgic for cross country days, but it also made me realize how much I wanted that simplicity back. And yet, I still managed to improve. My best time for the 4k was 19:50 (with an injury! I want to run without device...
