I saved and saved since last Christmas, did my research back in January, and once I got near my needed saved amount, I made a deal with myself. I could get my new camera, a Nikon D7000, IF I drank my 3 liters of water every single day for two weeks. If I slipped, I had to start back at day 1. This was yet another week of "this isn't normal for Alaska" in regards to the weather. See what I mean about constantly hearing this? This was the third storm of this type in two weeks. Project 52:8 an easy day. Yesterday was preceded by a not so great night of sleep for me. I was dragging. Project 52:36 thankful and grateful. Since our arrival here in Alaska, we've continually heard "this is not normal (fill in the blank) for this season". We moved here in an unusually rainy summer. Last winter was crazy cold and snow-filled with a record-breaking snowfall total of 11 feet. This summer has been much cooler than normal. Now, we're well into fall and already seeing early evidence of winter on its way with snow plowing over the mountains. I'll share with you some things I learned the other day.

I'm fortunate to have a car that gets rather decent gas mileage- even with my snow tires on.
