Kim's Play Place: Starting Homeschooling
http://kimsplayplace.blogspot.com/2012/06/starting-homeschooling.html
Monday, June 18, 2012. How does a perfectly normal mom become a homeschooler of a middle schooler? It seems to be an amazing step. I had no intention of becoming a homeschooling mother when my first daughter was born, yet I find myself on that journey now. I could not have considered taking this step except that I work-from-home. I have met a number of homeschoolers and it seems that there is a different reason, or constellation of reasons, for every one of them. I have talked before about the difficulty...

Kim's Play Place: Extracurricular Learning: School Outside of School
http://kimsplayplace.blogspot.com/2012/02/extracurricular-learning-school-outside.html
Saturday, February 18, 2012. Extracurricular Learning: School Outside of School. Good education, in my opinion, is a major key to success and happiness in life. Because I value it so highly, I seek out academically oriented extracurricular activities. Whether the children are in public school, homeschooled, or in private school, I am constantly on the look out for other classes, workshops, or activities. Why bother having my child spend hours on regular school work and then come home to do more? Great po...
Kim's Play Place: Relaxing Weekend without Kids? Yeah.
http://kimsplayplace.blogspot.com/2012/01/relaxing-weekend-without-kids-yeah.html
Wednesday, January 04, 2012. Relaxing Weekend without Kids? You would think there would be no down side to having my father voluntarily take all three of my kids for a long weekend. I don't know what he was thinking. Although I am with my 12 year old, 10 year old and four year old all of the time, I am sure it must be intense for someone not used to it. And that resolution has already hit a huge snag. I was prepared for my 12 year old to be truculent and derail our efforts. View my complete profile.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012. A 12 Year-Old's View of Middle School. My DD12, Hanover, who has been back in the public school system for two years after homeschooling for three, made the announcement, a bit out of the blue, that she was going to homeschool next year. After talking with her a little bit, here are her main concerns:. School is boring and they spend waaaay too much time learning the same thing (she's pretty bright, so catches on quickly). Objectivist Kid: Science fair
http://objectivistkid.blogspot.com/2008/05/science-fair.html
No, of course, he's not an Objectivist at 10; but, his folks love Ayn Rand. Saturday, May 03, 2008. Z's school had a "science fair". Students perform an experiment at home, and present their findings at the fair. He had a truck roll down a ramp. Steeper inclines made the truck roll longer distances. Making the truck heavier, with a roll of quarters, also made it roll longer. Posted by objectivistDad at 3:12 PM. Running out of dreams. Economics for 9 year olds. The Lamplighter - by R.L.Stevenson.

No, of course, he's not an Objectivist at 10; but, his folks love Ayn Rand. Thursday, February 07, 2008. Running out of dreams. Sometimes (rarely) Z will have a nightmare and require a few minutes of comforting. The other night, a call from the son, and a prod from the wife and I stumbled to his room, trying to move from irritated woken sleeper to comforting father. Hey sweetie, had a nightmare? No, I had three good dreams, but they woke me up. Why did you call out, then? Economics for 9 year olds.

No, of course, he's not an Objectivist at 10; but, his folks love Ayn Rand. Sunday, October 23, 2005. Narrated by dad, using Z's "voice"]. Wordly Wise" book had a comprehension lesson about the London Eye. It is a huge Ferris Wheel in London. I don't think it could be. Much fun, because it takes half and hour to make one circle. If you buy two tickets and give it to the ticket-checker, I wonder if they'll let you ride for one hour. Posted by objectivistDad at 7:53 AM. Thursday, October 13, 2005.

Monday, July 21, 2014. Sander Levin's latest statist efforts. I desire lots of things. Can I get the government to force someone to give them to me?
