Birmingham FoQ 2016 - 2: Migawki z wystawy / Snapshots of the exhibition. Ograniczona czasowo i przestrzennie, mogłam tylko oglądać eksponaty: quilty, prace eksperymentalne, obiekty 3D - wreszcie do woli! Oraz pokaz technik "break down printing" i "newsprint" z użyciem sitodruku farbami pigmentowymi Procion MX i matowego zagęszczacza prowadzony przez żywiołową i pełną humoru artystkę Elaine Griffiths w ramach "The Virtual Studio". Artystuff: Trigger Finger!!
http://rtquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/trigger-finger.html
Tuesday, 16 June 2015. Have you ever had it? This is my second experience. The first was with the middle finger on the right hand. Eventually, I had surgery to correct it. It was very successful but it took AGES to get my fine motor control back- like over three years! Well, now the RING finger on my RIGHT hand is in trouble- BIG trouble. I have no grip at all and when I DO try to grip something- like the handle of my teapot- the finger locks in a tight curl and has to be unsnapped by hand! Well, this is...

http://rtquilter.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 29 April 2015. I am still making progress on the hosta piece. I THINK I have the top about half finished. I have been juggling it with garden cleanup, medical appointments for DH and trying to photograph the spring wildflowers. Here is the hosta so far. A fair bit of the big pale blob in the centre will be covered with other bits. For those lovers of blue like myself! This is scilla siberica up pretty close. Not sure how the black background happened but I think it looks OK. Here are a few.

Saturday, 31 January 2015. Anyone ever heard of the Pixeladies? NO- NOT PIXIE ladies as I misinterpreted the name originally! They are a pair of SAQA members from California who work together and who are VERY clever women. They are Kris Sazaki and Deb Cashatt and they offer a rather splendid online course on using Photoshop Elements for fibre artists. I have just finished part one of their two part programme and am anxiously awaiting part two. We are using PSE 13, BTW! We learned to make a watermark.

Artystuff: A few steps forward....
http://rtquilter.blogspot.com/2015/06/a-few-steps-forward.html
Wednesday, 24 June 2015. A few steps forward. A few back , then a few forward again! That's how this week has gone. I have actually been doing some more piecing on the Hosta swirl but it is slow going. Anyway, here's the story so far. This is the beginning of several "instars" of this piece. I have now removed that dark bit half way up the right side and am back to what's below.I have left the veining though. I like that. That is where I am now but here's an earlier shot . I still have work to do on it.

Thursday, 2 July 2015. Happy Canada Day ALL! Happy Canada Day ( and happy 49th Anniversary to DH and me too! How did THAT happen, anyway? A dear friend of ours in Scotland used to teasingly say, "That's a long time with one woman! I may have trigger finger but my shutter finger is ok and has been working hard. Trouble is, I have so many lovely shots now to build quilts from and not the wherewithall in the hand department to do anything about it! That it is VERY frustrating! Fumitory with crystal jewellery.

Friday, 28 August 2015. A Glossary of Silly Words. Backlit Perilla in our garden- Weedy sort of Basil-ish plant but very pretty, especially up close. The sun is shining. The air is cool. I am WRACKED with guilt- well , not so much GUILT as a feeling of contrition for having spooked so many of my kind followers as I did with my last post. Now you see the REAL ME! I am a KOOK! I am a WIERDO. I am a NUTCASE. Call me any name you wish. I am ME! GLOSSARY OF CAROLYNN-ISMS FOR THE TOTALLY OR SOMEWHAT CONFUSED.

Tuesday, 28 July 2015. I started quilting yesterday and by way of proof. As you see , I have begun in the centre , as always . I am also starting with the palest colours and working up the value scale( or down , as you see fit). I am quilting to sort of simulate the heavy filtering I did with Photoshop on the original photo. I am quite pleased the way it is coming along. I just can't sit for a long time so I do a bit and then change activities. Little strokes fell large oaks! I got ONE photo! Hope you ha...
