Tuesday, April 5, 2011. The second part of this week was spent in a homestay with the Maasai in the town of Engare Sero near Lake Natron in northern Tanzania. We left Serengeti on Saturday (my 21. Birthday) and spent that night in a small town- Wasso! Me and my friends celebrated by bar-hopping Wasso and my teacher got us a round of beer and Konyagi (Tanzanian gin) to top off a perfect birthday! Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Going to Tanzania, brb. Welcome to my first blog ever! So I am leaving for a semester abroad in Tanzania tomorrow to study wildlife conservation and political ecology. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Kwaheri internet, Karibu Maasai ISP. It'll be the second active volcano I have ever hiked (Dan- guatemala! Our time in Engare Sero was unbelievably entertaining and nonstop fun!
