My aim is to have a shared understanding of your problem and be able to tailor therapy to your individual needs. The first session will be an assessment which will involve asking you questions about your problem, the impact it has on your life and how it came about. I may also ask you about your background to gain a fuller understanding of the situation. Making time to attend on a regular basis is important and a commitment to the therapy process will also ensure progress is achieved.

The main treatment approach I use is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and EMDR. I have also trained in Mindfulness based CBT and may use this where appropriate. Telephone and email contact in between sessions for additional support may be arranged on an individual basis depending on need. I have a number of self help books available that I can lend to you whilst you are attending for therapy.
