Who administers the scheme in Uganda? Kisiizi Orphans is administered by the community outreach team (Hope ministries) which is based at Kisiizi hospital. Where do the children come from? Generally the children come from the surrounding villages up to a distance of a two hour drive, or put another way a day's walk. Kisiizi village is located in the south west of Uganda, in the Kigezi highlands. The village is between the towns of Kabale and Rukingiri each an hours drive away on dirt track. It is a beautiful region, close to the Virunga volcanoes which form the boundary between Uganda, Rwanda and Zaire. The area is one of the most densely populated in Uganda. There is no industry and most people are subsistence farmers. Kisiizi Orphans is part of a registered charity Kisiizi Partners.

Congratulations to the Ex Kisiizi Orphans Programme Ininative (EKOPI) group who have raised money to support a boy from the local community they say it is now our turn to support orphans. The group comprise youn adults who have benefitted from the UK scheme and gone gon to University/further training and good jobs. I met with three of the leaders a year ago and they are resolved to give somethin back. They have delivered money to the Hospital Finance Manager today.

In 2001 , during a visit to Kisiizi Hospital in South west Uganda, a rural and remote centre of clinical excellence, we asked how we could best help them in the work that they do. The reply was please find us more people prepared to pay a relatively small monthly amount to pay for orphaned children to go to school sponsorship. You can help us continue our work here at Kisiizi Orphans in several ways. Since we are a non profit organization we rely on financial donations so the orphans in the Kisiizi area can continue going to school. You can also make one off donations if you are not able to support an orphan long term, which are used to provide essential goods, for instance:. Pound;5 buys a Bible for an orphan. Kisiizi Good Shepherd Orphans Project
Kisiizi Good Shepherd Orphans Project. Established Jan 2011 with 20 orphans, the Kisiizi Good Shepherd Orphans and Vulnerable Children Project now is a charitable institute which cares for 127 children. Some are 'double' orphans - known in Uganda when you have lost both parents - or 'single' orphans when they have lost 1 parent. The school is currently in the process of constructing a new classroom building and they could really use your help! 70 children are orphans who lost parents due to HIV/AIDS.
