8211; Are we reaching our target audience? February 12, 2014. As I’m following Healthy Canadians, a Government of Canada Facebook page promoting healthy living to Canadians, I saw the above posted image this morning. As a health communication practitioner I had to look at it with a critical eye. I can’t say that this approach totally conveys the message to the intended target audience (parents); on the other hand, the image is bold and catchy. What do you think? Speak Out to End FGM. I think most teens k...

An endavour to provide a scaled perspective of ourselves and everything around us. Tuesday, April 1, 2014. Everyone likes to talk about them now, but few (including me) truly understand it. What's the difference between a meme and a joke? Was "joke" too simple of a definition and had to be expanded to become memes? How do you pronounce it? I always find ...

Andrea's Ancestry Adventure. Join me as I discover my family's past. Social media and disclosure policy. March 27, 2014. The great thing about the Internet is that it can connect people of like mind. My good luck connecting with other people searching for our ancestors continued when I googled Woolgar, which you may remember. Was the surname of my maternal great grandfather who came to Canada in the early 1900s. I found the Woolgar One Name Study. This entry was posted in Mom's family. You are commenting...

A Day In My Kitchen: Flourless Chocolate Cake | Sift Simmer Sip

For a perfectly pleased palate…. A Day In My Kitchen: Flourless Chocolate Cake. March 31, 2014. To the best part…dessert! So I’d like to preface this by saying, it really wasn’t my favourite flourless chocolate cake recipe. I found the cake to be too dry for my liking, mostly because I like when the cake is basically a giant fudgey brownie. But I added a few extra elements to add to the flavour in the end, and that really saved the cake. Frothy whipped egg whites! Step 3: Whip the crap out of those egg w...

For a perfectly pleased palate…. Nutella and Salted Caramel Stuffed Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. February 5, 2014. Today is National Nutella Day (for the U.S. but really any excuse I can get to eat Nutella, right? And in honour of this holiday (I really feel a day off work would have been more appropriate – that and a giant Costco-sized tub of the stuff) I’m sharing a cookie recipe that is one of my absolute favourites. I think I found this recipe through Tasteologie. And adjusted the recipe. 8212;R...

An Expat's Transition. February 27, 2014. March 5, 2014. 2 Mercury Lounge at ABC Place. Photo source: Google images. This is a fantastic place to get your groove on! It’s an indoor/outdoor lounge with a dance floor. Really cool vibe and great music. Sometimes the DJ will even play old school hip-hop 🙂 Oh, and the amount of energy, stamina and rhythm some of these Kenyans have while dancing is incredible. They rock the dance floor! White sand, clear blue waters. A perfect kenya →. March 4, 2014 at 3:30 pm.
