This Dusty House: August 2014
http://www.thisdustyhouse.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 29, 2014. Mom The word itself is surreal. On Sunday, Isabel was 2 months old. I almost did once. It scared me.). Still lots. Every 2-3 hours, except at night, when she does one 4-5 hour stretch. The third of the trifecta of baby activities. We have officially made the switch over to cloth diapers, and I have begun to understand the obsession cloth diapering moms have with the whole thing. But, that deserves a whole blog post of its own, I think. Oh, she plays! Links to this post. Prep work...

Monday, September 29, 2014. This Dusty Kitchen: Beef Stew and Cheese Roll Biscuits. I am not a food blogger. Well, wait a minute. That can't be entirely true, since this post is going to be about food, and I even have a whole section of this blog dedicated to the various eats that come out of my kitchen. I guess what I actually mean is that I'm not a very good food blogger. I could never dedicated a whole blog to food. I know. I tried.). 1-2 lbs stewing beef. 4 tbsp olive oil. 1 large red onion. 2 Heat t...

This Dusty House: February 2015
http://www.thisdustyhouse.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 26, 2015. I forgot to pack Isabel's bottles in her diaper bag this morning. I got a slightly panicked phone call from her sitter in the middle of my first class. By the time I managed to return her call, she'd already solved the problem. I returned to class kicking and cursing myself anyway. Yesterday, I felt capable, like I was rocking this mom-student thing. Today, I'm not so sure. Posted by Jeanette deBoer. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 7th House on the Left.

Monday, August 31, 2015. A Bittersweet Ode to a Nursing Bra. Or, so I thought, anyway.). I needed to buy some nursing bras. But, I needed. A nursing bra, right? How would I feed my daughter in the coming months if I walked out of that store empty handed? I picked two, doing my best to balance price with quality and comfort. Posted by Jeanette deBoer. Thursday, April 30, 2015. A Baby Hat for Sunny Days and Blonde Locks. Day by day, my daughter gets blonder. Over the winter, I hardly noticed. We spent our days indoors, or bundled in heavy winter clothing. But now, the sun is bright and warm and every time we step outside the door, it glints off the gold strands of her hair. Her scalp seems far too close to the sun. Things started out well. I found this adorable pattern for a sun bonnet. Posted by Jeanette deBoer. Links to this post. I'm not going to sh...

Friday, July 31, 2015. Garden 2015: Weeds Galore but also Vegetables. There was the first year. It was kind of haphazard, planted quickly in the middle of renovations and left to neglect. But the carrots! The carrots did so well, we were eating carrot soup for weeks. Gardening seemed like a piece of cake. I was even more ready for it for the second year. Eager to get going. I started our tomatoes and jalapenos in February. Last year, our fourth year. Well, what do you expect? It can be so frustrating.

This Dusty House: Musicking: Motherhood, Identity, and Holding On To Both
http://www.thisdustyhouse.com/2015/08/musicking-motherhood-identity-and.html
Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Musicking: Motherhood, Identity, and Holding On To Both. I have a new toy. I came home that night to a quiet house. Isabel was sleeping and Mark had just finished watching a movie on Netflix. I settled in and showed him my new instrument and played each of the new chords I had learned. As we talked, we realized this was the first thing I had done on my own in months. Sure, I run. If you follow me on Instagram. Posted by Jeanette deBoer. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
