Fabric Whore: on Pumpkin Butts and other projects ...
http://fabricwhore.blogspot.com/2007/08/on-pumpkin-butts-and-other-projects.html
Sunday, August 12, 2007. On Pumpkin Butts and other projects . Am headed to a convention. In less than a couple weeks and am a MASTERcrastinator, some are PROcrastinators, apparently I've hit master status. My goal for this convention is make and sell enough doll clothes in the room sales to pay for the trip (and maybe then some - we still need a new couch for the kids' romper room, a nice one-piece futon couch from Big Lots will work just fine). The problem? I still need to make another dirndl, finish t...

Fabric Whore: on not letting commissions be a bane of existence ...
http://fabricwhore.blogspot.com/2007/07/commissions-and-other-banes-of.html
Tuesday, July 24, 2007. On not letting commissions be a bane of existence . I'd give hubby's left nut for that energy! Hell, he might even let me have it removed - just that one anyway - so more would get done around the house! Where is my oufit? I paid already it should be in hand now! Nevermind that I asked. To be paid until project was complete and two weeks are left in the allotted time. (Only had that happen once, not fun, and not someone another commission was accepted from.). The link index site d...

Fabric Whore: at time of last post I thought I had enough fabric ...
http://fabricwhore.blogspot.com/2008/01/at-time-of-last-post-i-thought-i-had.html
Thursday, January 31, 2008. At time of last post I thought I had enough fabric . I am a bad bad bad fabric whore. And I still want more. I'm keeping a short list now. And sticking to it! Not buying on evilB@yP@l anymore should help. The fact that I have an index site doesn't.). Oh yeah, I think I'll finally start selling on Etsy. And opening a Google Checkout acct - fuck Eb@yP@l! And I need to e-mail my favorite sellers and see if they're bailing from eB@y too - enough is enough ya know? My main sewing r...

Fabric Whore: Things are coming together ...
http://fabricwhore.blogspot.com/2007/06/things-are-coming-together.html
Thursday, June 7, 2007. Things are coming together . Finally, links are being gathered, added, sorted, re-thought out. FabricWhore.com won't be a lame-ass site anymore! But poor neglected domain name it was . yes, a really raunchy fun name (surprised it was available frankly), with a good idea for a site, but it sat neglected for almost a year while I pondered the implications of fabric whoredom. Do I really want to admit to pining for fabric and "selling out" for it? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Kitchen Table Dolls: May 2007
http://kitchentabledolls.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Collecting and Not Breaking the Bank. On a fashion doll board recently someone had said they just wanted to sell all their dolls, get out of the debt the doll purchases had brought and move on with their life. That they loved the dolls, but they were almost obsession level and it needed to stop. She asked for our opinions, how we managed - or didn't - and it made me think about the realities of collecting anything. Veruca Gestalt is not amused, as all funds should funnel her way .

Saturday, June 2, 2007. Making a Doll Enjoyable . and some words on the importance of cleaning and modifying BJDs. I bought both of these beautiful BJDs. Asian Ball Jointed Dollfies) earlier this year with the intention of doing their face-ups (make-up) by myself. Freakin' eep. I can sew. I can make jewelry. I can sculpt fantasy heads. I just don't have the patience to give good face-up . the poor things, something had to be done or they'd be justified slashing me while I slept . Alcohol helps considerab...

Kitchen Table Dolls: ... and I feel fine!
http://kitchentabledolls.blogspot.com/2008/02/i-feel-fine.html
Tuesday, February 19, 2008. And I feel fine! Well, it seems that eBay doesn't want us small and sporadic sellers, they want to be Amazon . ('scuze me while I finish laughing at the potential success of that venture! Anyway, doll crafters are heading in DROVES to Etsy! Customizers, doll part suppliers, doll clothing makers, we're all high-tailing it Etsy's way! To keep things simple the BJD people are all being universal in putting the "word" bjd. This morning I posted on a board I help admin . And if the...

Fabric Whore: May 2007
http://fabricwhore.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2007. My Dolls are Fabric Whores, too . Collecting dolls is almost as fun as collecting fabric (and somehow restraint is easier with the dolls) and making or sewing for dolls is a really great excuse for fabric . I started making elves and hand puppets because of the fabric sickness. My husband said ". You buy all this fabric, WHAT are you going to with it? ARE you going to do anything with it? Ugh, hate it when they have a point.). The progression to vinyl 16" fashion dolls was quick &...

Fabric Whore: Improv sewing ...
http://fabricwhore.blogspot.com/2007/06/improv-sewing.html
Saturday, June 23, 2007. Well, I bulloxed up a baby dress I was converting into a doll dress as a tutorial for the KTD blog - ugh. Have another I'm working on, but still, it's disappointing when there's an idea, and the reality flops. Edited to add on 7/8/07:. Well, I did it! Added sleeves even. Went from this:. The trick is finding the smallest baby sundress you can; newborn or 3 months size. And spagetti straps don't work, dresses with sleeves *might*, but depends upon the sleeve style. The link index ...
