Flying Fish Kiting Team: Basingstoke Kite Festival
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015/06/basingstoke-kite-festival.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Wednesday, 10 June 2015. Our third successive appearance at Basingstoke; we're gradually becoming part of the furniture! Weather was nice and mostly sunny, but the wind was challenging, on both days, but for different reasons. On Saturday, the wind was variable and blustery, full of random holes, bumps and brick walls. We coped, but our routines that day certainly weren't our best . We flew our standard Airdynamics T5 kites. Flew their usual 'Carl flying two kites' - Carl and Bry...

We supply kites, kite line, associated accessories and windsocks since 1992. The easiest and most suitable kite for Falcon training is a DELTA shaped kite. A delta kite is a high flyer with near vertical flight in the right wind conditions, little pull, excellent light wind capability and simple assembly. We supply delta kites in a variety of wingspans. Deltas with 8, 9 or 11ft wingspan are usually best (prices start around 35.00). Use 40daN/80lbs High Quality Climax Braided Dacron line (Made in Germany).

Flying Fish Kiting Team: Exmouth Kite Festival
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015/06/exmouth-kite-festival.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Wednesday, 3 June 2015. On Saturday) to standards. On Sunday), Highlight in terms of our own performances was probably (no, surely) the double catch at the end of our Adiemus routine on Saturday morning, the first time we pulled this off ('first' #3)! Had seen what was happening, and made sure that their standards were ready for us to quickly switch to between our two routines; thanks guys! First' #4). The Peter Powell boys. Who else were there in terms of pairs and teams? Was pr...

Flying Fish Kiting Team: June 2015
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Wednesday, 24 June 2015. Streatham Common Kite Day. First time we were present at Streatham Common Kite Day. As Flying Fish, we had three arena slots across the day, in which we flew our now-usual "Ruthless Queen" - "Adiemus" pair of routines. The wind was difficult throughout the day: very bumpy and turbulent, and it caused me to make the wrong initial call as to the kites to use. During warm-up, the Airdynamics Taipan T5 V1. And even they had kites fall out of the sky a few tim...

Flying Fish Kiting Team: December 2014
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Saturday, 13 December 2014. If you don't like seeing tails on kites, stop reading and look away now . Something that seems to work on paper may not work in real life, so once the tails were ready, we obviously needed to test them out in the flying field. And we felt the perfect kites for this would be our pair of Fire Darts. These kites are essentially ultralights, and the thin tails would be a good visual match for the strong lines of the kites. Monday, 8 December 2014. Connecte...

Flying Fish Kiting Team: April 2015
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Wednesday, 22 April 2015. Sometimes you just stumble across some kites, and the offer is such that you simply can't refuse . I have to admit I'd never heard of a kite builder called Ron Martinelli, and had never seen a Martinelli kite until I saw a pair for sale at Windswept Kites. For a price equivalent to around £18 . That's £18 for the pair. So what about their flight characteristics? And what about flying them as a pair? Fast, noisy, and a hoot to fly together! Same size, dif...

Flying Fish Kiting Team: Herne Bay Kite Day
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015/07/herne-bay-kite-day.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Wednesday, 1 July 2015. Herne Bay Kite Day. Herne Bay was the third new festival we flew at, and participated in this year, and it certainly was the festival furthest from home so far. Also, it was a unique festival for us. But more on that later. And to Adiemus with our Cheetahs first, and Fire Darts later, in both cases with 100' tails. Which reminded us of one of the drawbacks of flying with tails . The second of our Ruthless Queen routines was flown with our Dream Ons. How we...

Flying Fish Kiting Team: August 2015
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Sunday, 23 August 2015. Even though Portsmouth was moved two weeks earlier, it was still the close of the 2015 festival season for us. As I've written before, that always gives a bit of a double feeling, and we were determined to go out with a bang at the biggest festival for us this year. We most certainly did, but more on that later! But at the last moment before our first display, we switched down to our ultralights. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I simply can't g...

Flying Fish Kiting Team: January 2015
http://flyingfishkites.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Flying Fish Kiting Team. Monday, 5 January 2015. Marcin Klysewicz documentary - the making of. You may already have seen the short documentary on us and our flying on our Facebook page. Whether you have or haven't yet, here's a bit more of the story behind it . Email addresses were exchanged, and a few weeks later we met up with Marcin and his collection of cameras and other gear. In addition to the filming, we also spent a morning recording voice-overs at home. Marcin was keen to tell a 'story' in the v...
