Tuesday, December 9, 2008. TSM Occupancy and Slots. TSM doesn't do a fantastic job on it's own of keeping any historical data. They leave it to you and third party products to work that out. One metric I like to graph over time is client data occupancy. Using occupancy figures you can roughly work out when you are going to run out of tape library slots. Friday, January 23, 2009. TSM3310 and Windows Weirdness. It might be unfair to single out the TS3310 (aka 3576) library but it's the model I have the most dealings with. I also have almost exclusively dealt with TSM running on Windows. Windows and the TS3310 do seem to struggle to get along at times. Why did this happen? So, what was the lesson learned? You can always argue "Well if it goes wrong I'll map them back" but many applications will fall in a screaming heap if you get the wrong LUN's.
