Good to See Ya Mate! Tuesday, April 18, 2006. Over the River and Through the Falls. It sure took a long time to reach the top of this mountain, but we made it. The scenery is so beautiful! The water slammed into the side of the raft, sending us spinning in a circle. I could barely hear the guide shouting directions to the men in front, as I struggled to paddle as fast as I could. "Paddles up! Was the sharp rebuff from our guide. He obviously didn't know who I was, so we let it slide for the moment.

Welcome to the Desert. Thursday, April 20, 2006. This treatment leads me to believe that women are treated as second class citizens. But I am a visitor here, and can do nothing about it. Which leads me to notice that I have never seen the face of the Bahraini women. Their faces are completely concealed by their abaya - a black outer garment covering them from head to foot.
