So ya, anyway drawing is what I normally wish I were doing but ...

Kjersten Hayes: Artist and Illustrator: Lightning Strikes! (A way of taking good reference photos for action drawings)
http://kjerstenannahayes.blogspot.com/2010/03/lightning-strikes-way-of-taking-good.html
Thursday, March 25, 2010. A way of taking good reference photos for action drawings). I took these pictures using a method that I worked out during the Nevada mentor program last summer. It's a method of taking reference photos for action drawings. I'd meant to post about this last fall but sometimes blogging has to take the back burner when there's lots going on. So here we are, better late than never. But it wasn't working. Now the witches face. That one was totally posed. Tools worthy of some drool.

Kjersten Hayes: Artist and Illustrator: Paper Marbling
http://kjerstenannahayes.blogspot.com/2010/05/paper-marbling.html
Sunday, May 30, 2010. A couple years ago, at an SCBWI picture book retreat with Denise Fleming. I learned a simplified version of paper marbling using shaving cream and food coloring. This past week (after finally getting my paper-making area set up in my new studio) I put that knowledge to use! I didn't use food coloring this time. Instead I used the paper-making dyes I use when I dye the paper I make. I did this so I could play with color a bit more. These are some photos of the blue versions. I harbor...

Kjersten Hayes: Artist and Illustrator: Some moments should come with eject buttons. Oh wait! They do!
http://kjerstenannahayes.blogspot.com/2012/02/some-moments-should-come-with-eject.html
Monday, February 13, 2012. Some moments should come with eject buttons. Oh wait! It didn't take even a full five minutes to realize I had stepped onto planet crazy by entering that particular taxi cab. I sighed, looked out the window and wondered how long the journey would take. I felt thankful, for once, that I'm a little deaf and can't always understand strangers' accents. Then, all in a flash, I realized I could do something about that unwanted moment. Here's to anyone who finds him or her self in a c...
