Bringing Raisa Home: March 2008
http://bringingraisahome.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 27, 2008. Rachel started gymnastics a couple weeks ago, and she loves it! She also started ballroom dancing lessons! Our local “Fred Astaire Ballroom Dance Studio” has a spring session for 4th-graders at our elementary school, and Rachel is a natural! Ballroom Dance is my weakness – I used to dance back in Ukraine, and Alex took several years of Ballroom Dancing as well, so my goal now is to find partners for both girls and start the formal lessons ASAP :). Of course her happiness! She...

Life As We Know It: June 2009
http://kjraefamily.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, June 11, 2009. Jessica and Erika returned home from our church girl's camp last week and had a blast! One of the leaders informed me the 2nd day in, that Jessica was asking to go home; she was home sick! Well - we kept her there anyway knowing that this was good for her to be there, and she ended up having such a good time. We are very happy with how far the girls have come. They really are such awesome kids and we are lucky to have them in our family. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Not really sure wha...

Life As We Know It: August 2009
http://kjraefamily.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 12, 2009. Does he look like trouble? I love this boy to pieces, but boy does he have us on our toes already. First day of school, not so good. Second day of school, not so good. He is having a tough time listening and following directions, and yesterday even hit a kid over the head with a book. Okay, so this is kind of funny but, yikes! I have already had phone calls from his teacher both days. Here's hoping to a GOOD third day of school. Monday, August 10, 2009. 1st day of School.

Bringing Raisa Home: First Mother’s Day with Rachel!
http://bringingraisahome.blogspot.com/2008/05/first-mothers-day-with-rachel.html
Tuesday, May 13, 2008. First Mother’s Day with Rachel! About a month ago Rachel started giving me some hints about a special gift for me :) Something like this: “Mama, I’m making something for you, but I won’t tell you.” It was very cute! Then the last week or so both girls were very mysterious and tried to cover their art projects when I was nearby :) And finally on Mother’s Day I’ve got gifts from all 3 kids, and it was a VERY special day. May 13, 2008 at 3:22 PM. May 13, 2008 at 4:31 PM. Our lilacs ha...

Bringing Raisa Home: Pen Pals
http://bringingraisahome.blogspot.com/2008/04/pen-pals.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2008. While preparing for our trip to Ukraine, I virtually "met" Kelly. Kelly and her husband came home with 2 kids – a 10-year daughter Diana and a 4-year old son Will, and now Rachel and Diana are pen pals! But I think it’s a great idea to exchange real letters, and Rachel thinks so too! What else is new? A couple of days ago we celebrated 3 months since Rachel came home. And you know what? We also went to the circus – the Damascus Shrine Circus was in town. Though Rachel...Another...

Bringing Raisa Home: October 2007
http://bringingraisahome.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 30, 2007. The Order of Toasts and 19 days to go. After I wrote about the customs and superstitions last week, my friend Kelly asked me to write about the order of toasts for gatherings. The following is Odessa's version, so it can be totally different in other parts of Ukraine :). Rule #1 - don't drink without toasting! You can be considered an alcoholic! The first toast is always for the occasion. If it's a birthday party - drink for the person whose birthday is celebrated. On the adopt...

Life with Little Boy Dove: November 2007
http://dovefamily07.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2007. While we were walking back, we found a cool looking little pizza place. We were kind of nervous about going in because we haven’t eaten out on our own yet (except McDonald’s in Kyiv). Jennifer successfully ordered us a pizza with cheese and tomatoes and two drinks and the total came to less than $5! We are very excited to get to see him some more before we pick him up for good.
