Asian Travels: 2001 - 2002. Thailand, India, Vietnam. All posts written in 2001/2. From Oct 2001 to Mar 2002, we visited Thailand, India, Cambodia, Vietnam and Lao. Bangkok was our base, our point of arrival and departure and the place where we obtained onward tickets and visas and rested in between one portion of the trip and the next. The road and roadsides were filled with a throbbing mass of humanity. There were people everywhere, cars, buses (more or less road-worthly), push cars, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, human-drawn rickshaws, cows, dogs, and more. After spending a week lying on the beach and sunning ourselves in Benaulim, Goa, we took the train to Hampi (in the state of Karnataka) about 350 km from Benaulim.
