http://kylieann-writingintheory.blogspot.com/2010/03/readings-for-329.html
Saturday, March 27, 2010. 1) How do you feel about the writing center summary? Do you view it as a way to "keep track" of your sessions and document the session? Do you think the summaries are more likely to foster relationships with tutees and teachers or muddle relationships? 2)Should we treat the "non-traditional students" differently? Why do I feel like I need another strategy for older students? March 28, 2010 at 10:47 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Observation in a New Setting.

Sunday, March 21, 2010. Today was a beautiful day to be outside! Then we moved onto further suggestions about what she could do with the final draft of the paper like, adding in personal experiences to her paper since her paper was about Mexican immigration and her family had immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). KylieAnn25: Observation in a New Setting

Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Observation in a New Setting. This week I shadowed in the coffee shop of the library. It was a little noisier than the writing center. The writing center is a more controlled environment where if it gets too loud one group can always step out into the hall but this is not the case in the library. The coffee shop still had that homie feeling though, so it wasn't intimidating at all. She then went into specific issues. For example, his quotes were very long and there was not a l...

Sunday, March 21, 2010. 1) The book's strongest encouragement and re-occurring advice seems to be asking questions and using I statements. Are there any other techniques that you have seen employed that also seem to work every time? Have you seen these techniques employed well? March 23, 2010 at 1:36 PM. March 23, 2010 at 7:10 PM. Sunday, April 4, 2010. 1) How can we, as writing tutors, help international students make the "leap" from classrooms in their home countries to the open learning style of American classrooms. 2)The easiest way to help someone, it seems, is to as them what they need help with, what way they learn best and then to put them at ease. KylieAnn25: Shadowing 3/28
http://kylieann-writingintheory.blogspot.com/2010/03/shadowing-328.html
Sunday, March 28, 2010. Today went very well! The tutor believed that if she laid out her argument in the beginning of the paper not only would the reader be able to follow better but she would be better able to answer every part of the prompt by setting up the argument early. The tutor went through all of her major points citing specific points in the paper. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Observation in a New Setting. View my complete profile.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010. How Can We Help? But really.how can we help? I feel like everything I thought I would be doing as a writing consultant has been broken down and dismissed. It makes sense the more I think about it. How is simply editing a paper going to benefit anyone if the ideas, structure, or analysis itself faulty? Sunday, January 24, 2010. A Dance without a Dancer. Is bullshit necessary to enter the academic conversation? Sunday, January 17, 2010. The Power of the Writing Center. Each tea...
