Brook is thirty-three, and everything in her world looks upside down the opposite of what it used to be. Door handles are on the left now instead of right. The doors open in instead of out. Stairs give her vertigo. The steering wheel feels square and slippery under her fingers. Water falls dry into her mouth and is hard to swallow. Words catch like bones in her throat. Brook seldom leaves the house, because people tend to ask if she needs help. Brook sits on the couch and watches television with her husb...

tuesday hour: from today's adventures
http://tuesdayhour.blogspot.com/2013/04/josephs-post-preschool-field-trip-to.html
Joseph's post preschool field trip to a revolutionary war encampment reenactment thoughts:. Mama, does a soldier actually start out as a baby? Mama, i actually want to be a soldier.". Mama, even if i was a soldier, i would be very kind. i would share my gun. i would let somebody see my gun if they wanted to.". Mama, does a soldier have a dada? Mama, how does a soldier get a uniform on? Mama, where's my uniform? Mama, does a soldier have a house? Mama, i would like to see a soldier up close.".

tuesday hour: quiet thought
http://tuesdayhour.blogspot.com/2013/05/quiet-thought.html
It's a quiet thought and it's not exactly complete, but my heart is stirred tonight. We had a members' meeting for sojourn. jude had a fever last night, so he stayed with me, which means he scrambled around in the back room while i half-listened, which was fine with me since the big one who skipped his nap to sing mahna-mahna was the rascally one today. Nothing profound, but i realized driving home that i felt full. And then tonight was this wonderful and simple i'm not by myself feeling. It made me want...

tuesday hour: February 2013
http://tuesdayhour.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Fifteen minutes left on the rice cooking thoughts:. I hope that someday my boys remember this home as the one that always sounded like prop planes flying overhead. i hope that thought fills them with home feelings. Family from our church back in missouri makes me think about how maybe that daughter could be adopted. how incredible to hear their story of being handed their daughter and from that point on being her parents. This is my favorite thing i've ever made:. Lars and the real girl was a really good...

tuesday hour: March 2013
http://tuesdayhour.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Melting my heart this week. For real. the things that have come out of this bright-eyed boy have been sweet and hilarious and pretending-he's-a-friendly-bulldozer-all-morning wonderful. Jude, who celebrates his half birthday today and insisted on adding jo-jo to the half birthday song, has also done his share of heart melting. including saying "look-at-that! And squealing in laughter at things like open closet doors. and this morning he said "pilot.". On preparing for sabbath. In defense of the iphone mom.

The (boys actually in their costumes) photo. :). I know it seems like i'm not doing anything but making a cloud costume. I was happily immersed in creating these halloween costumes for my boys for the last few days. A prop plane for joseph. And a puffy cloud for jude. You know, like they go together? Guess how long they wore them at tonight's trunk or treat? Annnnd that didn't happen. which makes me laugh at my facebook daydreaming confession. i've noticed my mind thinking in these types of image...It wa...
