Bellsknits: The Year's End
http://bellsknits.blogspot.com/2009/12/years-end.html
Sunday, 27 December 2009. As 2009 draws to a close, I've been looking forward again to glancing back over what happened for me creatively this year. It's something I really look forward to, pulling all the photos together on Flickr and building the mosaic you see below. I love seeing the journey, the progress and the colours. Also, big changes in store for this blog in 2010. In the first week of January, I'll be moving. The decision's been building for a while and I made it last week. So come...11 Sean's...

Bellsknits: FO 2008: The Steeked Jacket
http://bellsknits.blogspot.com/2008/03/fo-2008-steeked-jacket.html
Sunday, 2 March 2008. FO 2008: The Steeked Jacket. What's it like when a project takes up more than a year of your relatively young knitting life? What happens when you reach the end and you look back? When I look at my jacket, I see, not to put too fine a point on it, over a year of my life represented in every single stitch. It's quite powerful for me. The Steeked Jacket wasn't ever going to be made. Julie, aka The Samurai Knitter. That, it seemed, was a sign. And then I was off. I remember in March la...

kgirlknits: It fits!
http://kgirlknits.blogspot.com/2015/07/it-fits.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. Is finally dry after nearly a week on the racks. I haven’t been home much this week so the heater hasn’t been on a lot, and this combined with the cold front Melbourne has been experiencing meant it was a slower blocking process than normal but worth it. The alpaca/wool blend has behaved itself beautifully, and I’m pleased to report my calculations and mods have worked just as anticipated. Actually, I have 1 and ¼ skeins left over. Short rows are also used again at the hem to accom...

kgirlknits: with bated breath..
http://kgirlknits.blogspot.com/2015/07/with-bated-breath.html
Monday, July 20, 2015. I'm always nervous about the first blocking of a garment, but never more so that when there is alpaca involved. Alpaca fleece makes a beautiful, luscious yarn with lovely drape and a buttery handle. It also lacks the "memory" of wool, and is well-known for it's tendency to stretch and sag.not ideal when knitting a garment and unless you're aware and make allowances, you're more likely to end up with a knitted dress than a jumper. Location: Melbourne VIC, Australia. That is just bea...

kgirlknits: Passion project
http://kgirlknits.blogspot.com/2015/08/passion-project.html
Tuesday, August 04, 2015. I've been working quietly behind the scenes on a bit of a passion project for nearly 2 years, and I'm now so excited to tell you that my new venture - Whisky Bay Woollens. Has gone LIVE today! Over my years of knitting, I have worked with so many different variances of yarn but when it comes down to it, I have realised I love woolly wool. The rustic, rugged textures combined with it's properties of tactile properties make my heart sing. Squeaky Beach fingerless mitts. The first ...

kgirlknits: Nothing new under the sun
http://kgirlknits.blogspot.com/2015/06/nothing-new-under-sun.html
Saturday, June 20, 2015. Nothing new under the sun. Recently I knit a pair of socks for myself, without the aid of any pattern other than my own understanding and acquired knowledge of how a sock is knit. This is nothing ground-breaking or particularly clever of course. It's just simply a by-product, an accumulation, of the construction of the hundreds of patterns I have knit over the years and held within my mind and hands. And some needles and cast on ready for the train commute home. I took a calculat...

Twitchy Fingers: September 2009
http://twitchyfingers.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
More of Twitchyfingers's books ». Sunday, September 27, 2009. So there’s been much chat about mushrooms. Not the tasty fungi type, but the wooden, darning type. I’ve been darning for nearly two weeks now, and I’ve found it strangely cathartic. It started because my husband is a devoted Bulldogs. Who am I kidding, there was a small amount of sole between the holes. I own quite a lovely mushroom, and like many of my crafting items, it has been gleaned/gifted/stolen from my Nana. Twitchy Fingers: October 2009
http://twitchyfingers.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
More of Twitchyfingers's books ». Wednesday, October 07, 2009. On my honeymoon in Vietnam I bought a ring which I *LOVED* but Nath didn't. So I gave it to my sister and have since spent seven long years coveting it. My sister just came back from Vietnam and bought me the same ring - from the same shop! And we have twin rings which is a nice, sistery thing. My sister also bought back a lovely ao dai for Lily. She wore it to Brown Owls. It rained at Brown Owls. (Luckily they came up as good as new). I try ...
