Knit, Click, & Stir: July 2014
https://knitclickstir.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Knit, Click, and Stir. A country girl experiments with knitting, photography, and cooking! Monday, July 28, 2014. The Unsung Dung (Beetle). Todd and I found a hiking trail not too far from our house this weekend, and I was delighted to find a plethora of mushrooms/fungus in every color of the rainbow. Of course, green. Lots of the "typical" whites and browns, too. This branch once held tasty insects for a woodpecker:. We paused to watch a spider spin a web:. I can't wait for our next trip out. The ceti e...
Knit, Click, & Stir: Foxglove Love
https://knitclickstir.blogspot.com/2015/07/foxglove-love.html
Knit, Click, and Stir. A country girl experiments with knitting, photography, and cooking! Friday, July 17, 2015. First, let me get this out of the way. BEAVER BABIES. All right, now that I've got that out of my system, I can move on to the main event: I finished my cardigan. Here's the cardigan pre-steek:. Basically the steek pulls the stitch apart and reveals the ladder center. This is where you cut. The steek edge naturally folds under and is hidden. Then all you have to do is sew on buttons, weave in...

Knit, Click, and Stir. A country girl experiments with knitting, photography, and cooking! Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Every spring is the only spring, a perpetual astonishment." - Ellis Peters. It must be true, because I don't remember a more beautiful season. The beds, of course, are a terrible mess.leaf-choked, overrun with Helleborus seedlings, drooping ferns that need cut back, the works. I hope I've got time to get my hands in the dirt this weekend. Their bodies are shield-shaped. There's just nothing...
Knit, Click, & Stir: June 2015
https://knitclickstir.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Knit, Click, and Stir. A country girl experiments with knitting, photography, and cooking! Tuesday, June 30, 2015. I had planned to do a strictly craft-centric post today, because I've done several projects and have fallen far behind on posting pictures. The same with some recent baking experiments. But we had such an interesting weather event this weekend that I couldn't resist a few pictures. The forecast for Friday afternoon was cloudy skies with a 20% chance of precipitation. And those trees in the p...
Knit, Click, & Stir: The White Stuff
https://knitclickstir.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-white-stuff.html
Knit, Click, and Stir. A country girl experiments with knitting, photography, and cooking! Tuesday, May 19, 2015. I joked to Todd recently that I've been poisoned (ivy), bit (mosquitoes), stung (bee), and burned (sun), all in the same day. That's the perils of working outside when you live in kind of a wild, unruly place, but that certainly won't keep me inside. Especially this week, which I'm proclaiming the return of the white. Not very catchy, but it's accurate. And, oh, the gardenias! But she's usual...

Tuesday, February 14, 2006. Final Week Check In. Chapter 12 check in. Can you believe it? Our final chapter. I have continued to do my morning and/or evening pages. I have found benefits no matter what time of the day I do them. I am planning to continue with my morning pages and my artist dates. I also intend to continue posting on my blog. I haven't had an artist date in two weeks. Mostly because of our cat that was so sick. Sadly he did not make it. I'm a little sad that our group is over. Subscribe t...
cathy's cafe: September 2010
http://cathyscafe.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 06, 2010. Labor day. The summer is officially winding down. And right on schedule, the past few nights have been cool enough to turn off the air conditioning and sleep with the windows open. It feels wonderful. I finished up the Whisper Cardigan. And I absolutely love it. I should be able to get a few wearings in between too hot to even think about it and I need something warmer. I've taken the Origami Cardi. I also started knitting on my Queen Alice. This was February's shipment. W...
cathy's cafe: My First Attempt at Sewing a Shirt a/k/a Why I Don't Wear My Clothes Inside Out
http://cathyscafe.blogspot.com/2012/07/my-first-attempt-at-sewing-shirt-aka.html
Saturday, February 23, 2013. My First Attempt at Sewing a Shirt a/k/a Why I Don't Wear My Clothes Inside Out. I've been reading a lot of sewing blogs lately. They make it look so easy. And pretty. So I attempted Vogue 8790. It seemed simple enough. A back, 2 pieces for the front and 2 sleeves. short ones at that. I found some cotton lycra at Joann Fabrics. I measured, I pin fit and I cut out. I started to sew, but the thread I had gotten to match the fabric was too heavy. Who knew? A photo by 1d3c. Work ...
cathy's cafe: Sew, what have you been up to?
http://cathyscafe.blogspot.com/2011/07/sew-what-have-you-been-up-to.html
Friday, July 29, 2011. Sew, what have you been up to? The bottoms came out well, although they're a little baggy. Next time I will go down a size. The top came out ok. Sadly, at the very end, as I was topstitching the hem, I had a machine malfunction. (My machine never gives me a problem, so really, what the heck? My top got caught in the machine and I ended up with a hole. Since I've never had a DPN grab my knitting and put a hole in it,. I'm going to console myself with some sock knitting. It's that ti...

Saturday, January 30, 2010. So it's the end of January and right now it's about 20 degrees outside. Brrrr. I guess the robbins I saw the other day were wrong. And being one to always live in the moment, what am I thinking about right now? How to turn my plot of weeds in to a nice yard and garden. Lots of flowers, some veggies, a lawn instead weeds mowed really short. But I'm not really sure where to start. Meanwhile, I'm knitting the Prairie Spring Tunic by Franklin Habit. knitcircus – bringing you lots of little acts from knitting's big tent
Bringing you lots of little acts from knitting's big tent. Savvy Skeins at KnitCircus. Last week we welcomed the 2. Indie-dyer trunk show to the KnitCircus store! I’m usually a fan of earth tones and neutrals, so I was surprised when I found myself repeatedly picking up a skein of the Psychedelic Sister colorway. The colors in this yarn are so fun and unexpected! March 8, 2018. The Podcast in which Amy steers the conversation to topics that are easy to link in the show notes and Jaala doesn’t seem ...
Knit City
Sunday, 30 December 2007. Final FOs of 2007. I got my knitting mojo back at the last minute this holiday season and cranked out a few last minute gifts. Up first is Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's one row scarf. Knit in the familiar Noro Kureyon, colourway 157. I think I finally accepted that it was going to be a long time before I bought the 14 additional skeins necessary for a Lizard Ridge. Maybe I'll get back to that.sometime in 2009. Skeins: 2 a bit of a third. Needle Size: 4.5mm. Strangely, my mom also has...

Knit, Click, & Stir
Knit, Click, and Stir. A country girl experiments with knitting, photography, and cooking! Monday, March 26, 2018. A red-tailed hawk has been spending a lot of time in our backyard lately. Hawks are doing slow circles in the sky every day. They make beautiful silhouettes. They're such cheerful little birds, and now they're everywhere, preparing nests! Even my favorite azalea is opening up. The usual bouquets.they make me happy. A brief period of pollen. And woodland flowers in the woods. Meanwhile, I hav...
