Our summer gourmet group party had a Greek theme: OPA! I'm confident that if you wanted to recreate this dinner party dish by dish, you'll have very happy guests! The soup was light and lemony, the moussaka was the best I've tasted, and the baklava (my contribution) was hands down the best baklava any of us had ever had. I'm glad I was able to make the baklava as I have friends who keep bees and give me honey whenever I ask! Goat Cheese with Olives, Lemon and Thyme. With Crisp Rosemary Flatbread. Below a...

Knitionary: May 2015

http://knitionary.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

I suppose yes, but if I had an idea to make something, I also had to come up with the how-to. At the beginning of summer I would write down my list of must-dos that would have looked something like this:. Wash all doll clothes with this soap. Figure out to make some Barbie furniture. Learn how to do book-binding and while I'm at it, write a book too, why not? My husband came home when they were drying, took one look and asked, "What on earth? 5/24 Edited to add: A reader, Nancy, sent this picture to me&#...

Knitionary: Kim and Kristen

http://knitionary.blogspot.com/2015/08/kim-and-kristen.html

Happy day for knitters! Kim Hargreaves new book is out. Below is Kristen. Yep, my namesake. Look at that simple shape. Sigh. And it's knit using Kidsilk Haze. Perfect. And see the pretty boat neck? This is kismet. ALL are elements I love, so I am declaring that Kim named this in my honor. I've always wanted a rose, or a tomato, or a sweater named after me! And when the book arrives, I'm dropping everything, I mean everything, and knitting this. Where you'll see all the designs. Swoon. Every single design...

Knitionary: Wee Gingersnap in a new size

http://knitionary.blogspot.com/2015/08/wee-gingersnap-in-new-size.html

Wee Gingersnap in a new size. Thank you for your kind comments on my baby cardi pattern, Gingersnap. Knitters have asked for different sizes, and yes, I'll be getting around to it- soonish- I know babies of all sizes get chilly, not just one year olds! In the meantime, I did a little experiment and knit the sweater pattern exactly as written, but in DK weight yarn instead of worsted weight yarn. Just by changing the gauge I was able to size down the sweater to fit a 6 month old. And Pure Wool Superwash DK.

We're privileged to have grown up on a continent where we could see them in the wild . slow and graceful . truly magnificent! This little bundle of wooly cuteness, was an absolute pleasure to make! I used THIS PATTERN. She also has the cutest little tail :-). She turned out to be the perfect summer crochet project .

Tales Of A Needle And Thread. The Place I share My Family, Faith And My Many Crafty And Culinary Creations. Saturday, July 25, 2015. I love recipe books, and have quite a few of them . that translates to FAR too many . but Ho Hum! This recipe book just tickles me . the cover encapsulates everything "English Tea" for me. I found it in a bookstore on one of my visits to my sister, and it was my reading material of choice for my flight back - and oh what a flight that was! I've woken up this morning to find...

Living Life in Vintage. May 5, 2013. The Cottages of Michiana Shores. Michiana Shores is by far one of the most enchanting villages in lower Michigan. Development began in the 1930’s as a log cabin town for vacationers. Many of the cottages were originally built as summer cottages for Chicago teachers. Today, the new log cabins blend seamlessly with the old. A perfect getaway. Linking up with: Wow Us Wednesdays. Some of my favorites. Suttons Bay Art Festival. My First Cherry Pie. Tales Of A Needle And Thread. The Place I share My Family, Faith And My Many Crafty And Culinary Creations. Sunday, June 21, 2015. York Peppermint Patties are a favorite chocolate treat in our house. Hubby especially is a BIG fan! I found a recipe a while back, for homemade peppermint patties - I think I found it on Pinterest (I can't find the place that I found it anymore). PJKnits: Stitches Midwest Rap Up

http://pjknits.blogspot.com/2015/08/stitches-midwest-rap-up.html

And knits and knits. Sunday, August 09, 2015. Stitches Midwest Rap Up. What an absolutely fantastic weekend at Stitches Midwest! When check in gave me the wrong room # and I had to go back down, they gave me $10 credit for my trouble. The Housekeeping Gal on our floor was super nice. When I asked for extra decaf for the next day, she supplied it. Friday's purchases, though, were half and half. Half gifties Half Me! Saturday was the major damage day! My girlfriend Charlotte brought these to a cookie exchange. Not only were they delicious, but I loved the story behind it:. Throughout my childhood my. Mother made these for our family and for church and school gatherings. For years she would send them to the soldiers in Germany. They loved them because they were sturdy bar cookies and therefore always arrived fresh and unbroken. I now make them for my grandchildren. 3/4 C butter, at room temperature. 1 lb brown sugar. 2 1/4 C flour. 1/2 tsp. salt. Jack ...
