http://scarfaday.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Today's a day. So's tomorrow. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Dressing the loom in Linda Hurt's Basic Weaving class at The Art League. You BET I was interested! I answered Linda right away and we agreed that, once her class was finished with their scarves, she'd write up a post about the class and send along some pictures. Your scarves are just beautiful! I couldn't believe it. The woman is FAB. Headquartered on the Potomac River in Old Town Alexandria (in the Torpedo Factory Art Center. What follows is an int...

December 1, 2010 7:38 pm. This fall I took a six week class at the Textile Center to learn the basics of bobbin lace. Bobbin lace is technically a type of weaving, but it is done with pairs of bobbins and pins instead of the traditional warp, weft and shuttles. The Snake was our first project and used 7 pairs of bobbins. Check out those beady eyes! Our next two projects were exploring the half stitch and the cloth stitch. Our last project was some delicate nursery lace. June 12, 2010 9:42 pm. It’s ...

Being a Maker: June 2009
http://beingamaker.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Being, not doing, is my first joy." - Roethke. Maybe this is what I'm here to do: think in colors, textures, fibers, spaces, and sometimes lines and paragraphs. That's where I feel peaceful these days, in colors. It's hard to explain, but it's like the weight of color theory, art history, and tunnel vision on one presentation of color all happening in my mind. Blue like cobalt glass, like cobalt oxide, like my 75 ceramic tiles, like cyanotype, like blueprints, like a weaving made with blue cotton thread.

Nielen o vlne a pradení. Zase úspešne nestíham. och, och. aspoň som minulý víkend nafotila malý prírastok do galerie priadzí, dve klbká z farbenej vlny. Crossroad Knits: Small Steps

Two states, three women, six kids and too much yarn. Tuesday, January 05, 2010. Thank you for all the encouragement and support. I've needed it and I deeply appreciate it. I'm still mulling over the suggestions for the "scarf of grief" (I like your ideas, Teabird) but as for the socks . They are now finished! There is a lot to be said for taking time and having patience. Yes, Anne Marie, the knitting is slowly finding me again. These are Cookie A's Monkeys with Socks That Rock (24 Karat? Ive always found...

Two states, three women, six kids and too much yarn. Thursday, January 21, 2010. Watch Out, Liz! There are some hats coming your way for Project Nepal. I spotted this pattern on Grumperina's blog. The hats were extremely fast and fun to knit. One hat took me about a football game and a Daily Show episode. Lamb's Pride Bulky (one skein is enough for a medium hat with leftovers for trim): Old Sage, Wild Mustard, Aran, Clemetis. Send your warm, wooly goodies to Liz by the 25th! Labels: Anns F.O.s.
