polliwannablog: Farewell Petunia.
http://polliwannablog.blogspot.com/2008/09/farewell-petunia.html
Friday, September 19, 2008. A rare picture of Petunia outside. Later she would refuse to pick up the ball on the ground because it was touching the ground. Today part of me died along with my ever faithful Petunia. She went swiftly- a quick seizure, and she was gone. I am still processing it. So much of my life was wrapped into the 40 lbs (yes, she had dropped the weight) of one neurosis after another. I miss her and everyone of her little idiosyncrasies. I love you, my sweet Petunia. polliwannablog: Mitchell Caverns
http://polliwannablog.blogspot.com/2008/11/mitchell-caverns.html
Thursday, November 13, 2008. I haven't had the desire to go out or once out go home, but thankfully I've got some friends forcing me out and then distracting me once home. Recently, I explored Mitchell Caverns. Path to the cavern. This formation is called the organ, but oddly. This is called the gnome. Whatever. I've been looking to make a homemade face exfoliant for super dry skin. I found this one from beauty.about.com. 1 bag cat litter (must be marked '100 Percent Natural Clay'). Apply mask to face.

polliwannablog: BRRRR Baby It's Cold Inside
http://polliwannablog.blogspot.com/2008/12/brrrr-baby-its-cold-inside.html
Tuesday, December 16, 2008. BRRRR Baby It's Cold Inside. WHN left my camera in his shorts and washed them. The camera still turns on, but it does not take pictures. Nice. So until I replace it, cellphone pics if pics at all! Don't get me wrong, I am complaining about the cold on a daily basis. I am huddled under my electric blanket, but I can't bring myself to demand we have the heater running. I realize now that I don't want to benefit from her absence. Posted by Nic at 11:07 PM. We haven't even had a r...

polliwannablog: Kraft Mtn Loop
http://polliwannablog.blogspot.com/2008/12/kraft-mtn-loop.html
Monday, December 01, 2008. Just outside of Red Rock Canyon Park is Kraft Mountain which obscures probably one of the most spectacular Nevadan desert areas. Once past the first steep uphill mile, a whimsical color-filled area of yellow, red, purple striped and polka dot boulders. Though there is no scrambling really, there are three areas where you have to sit and slide 15 feet down boulders. The first 2 slides, I was fine. Slide 1- about 15 feet of FUN! Second slide, look at that soft landing! Dude - it'...

polliwannablog: stars and bonnets
http://polliwannablog.blogspot.com/2008/08/stars-and-bonnets.html
Sunday, August 17, 2008. Last week was the Perseid meteor shower. I love finding out about sub-cultures. If I can see a fervor as someone describes their passion, I can listen to them for hours. I ask about the community group and the subtle rules etc or I can just listen to them chatter incessantly about whatever it is. One of the leaders of the Springs Preserves knitting group, Sarah, is an expert sewer. Her specialty? 1860 Buckram bonnet with my 2007 cellphone. Last week, I got an email from LaFujiMama.

Friday, April 28, 2006. Week 7 - Inefficiencies. We finally got D's birth certificate back from the state of New York. Processing time from order date to arrival in our mailbox = 16 days. Now the certificate goes back to NY county to have it re-certified. Estimated processing time = 14 days. Then the certificate goes to the Secretary of State to be certified yet again. Estimated processing time = 5 days. If done through the mail (assuming it doesn't get lost in transit on any of its trips). Twice the Ric...

hope's glow: July 2006
http://hopesglow.blogspot.com/2006_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 30, 2006. One of the reasons we chose to adopt from China was the sheer number of parents who have BTDT - almost 8,000 Chinese children were adopted into the U.S. last year. There are other adoptive families with children from China in our area, and we are hopeful our program choice will allow our daughter the opportunity to make friends, just like her. I recently joined our agency's August/September DTC yahoo group (pray USCIS cooperates! For taking this wonderful picture of all of us!

hope's glow: December 2006
http://hopesglow.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 31, 2006. Another year gone by. Ah, to be closer than I feel at this very moment - how precious that would be. But, alas, as of yet there are still many footsteps to fall. So, to those families-to-be who are still waiting tonight - in a few hours another year begins, a tangible event to mark off the calendar, a shift to things that are freshly new again - may we find the strength to wait together. Here's wishing a happy new year to everyone! Posted by tocspaw at 10:08 PM. For each and ev...

hope's glow: November 2006
http://hopesglow.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 14, 2006. There are days that I manage to stay away from it. And then there are days when it draws me in like bees swarming around a watermelon at a summer picnic - sweet, forbidden, and a little bit menacing. I'm talking about Rumor Queen's website. She posts rumors about what's happening at the CCAA, the wait, referral cutoff dates, etc. Some of it's hogwash (as is the nature of all rumors - only some of them have merit).
