About the Knitting Harpy. Knitting without patterns- A madwoman's journey. Laquo; Jade Wrap Update: Quilting, Waves and Borders That Don’t Curl. Gentleman’s Motorcyling Scarf: Free Pattern. November 10, 2008 by knittingharpy. As I mentioned in my last post about the Jade Wrap, I’m doing something a little weird with the edges. They appear to be stockinette, but they’re not curling– even though the wrap hasn’t been blocked. First, a close-up of the right side edge:. And the wrong-side edge:. Double knitti...

About the Knitting Harpy. Knitting without patterns- A madwoman's journey. Laquo; Multi-colored Yarn Adventures: Ridiculous Rasta Hat. November 30, 2008 by knittingharpy. Do you do it? We decorated the tree today, frosting it with the snow nobody gets down here in the south. And putting more snow in random places, just because. My feelings about Christmas knitting are somewhat mixed. On the one hand, guilt-free yarn purchases! Tons of fun for me! Hand-made gifts full of love! Well, for me, anyway. A knit...

Jade Wrap Update: Quilting, Waves and Borders That Don’t Curl. November 7, 2008 by knittingharpy. Progress has been made. I picked up stitches all along the twelve beaded leaves, and began working upward in the English Diamond Quilting Pattern, p. 102 in Barbara Walker’s A Treasury of Knitting Patterns. Thursday, June 25, 2009. Clap, clap, clap. Why oh why did I knit another Clapotis? This is my third. Do I need three shawl/scarves that don't work perfectly as either. After much soul searching I find two major reason why I knit my third:. 1) I was seduced by the yarn. 2) I like a simple knit. The Clapotis, Log Cabin Blanket, and Pinwheel all share a special attribute. They are easy, simple, but very clever designs that produce striking and unusual objects. I would like to know about more like th...Butto...

Angeluna knits into the wee hours of the morning and ponders life.and her stash! So much stash, so little time. Saturday, September 18, 2010. A Nod to the Ancestors. Five months have passed without a word on the blog. I've no idea why I've been so mute. There has been a lot of knitting, as usual, a bit of traveling, some time spent on genealogy. But none of that fully explains the lack of blog time. Speaking of those ancestors, I tripped over this interesting article in an old, old newspaper:. And here i...

Monday, May 11, 2009. I haven't been working much on the Learn to Knit Afghan. I guess other projects have been more compelling lately. But I did sew the first column together and loved the results. Here is a photo. Here is another view. The panel is too long to photograph as one strip, so it is folded over. Here is the last square I finished. Labels: learn to knit afghan. My first thought when that photo popped up on screen was: "What a cute scarf! May 12, 2009 at 10:12 AM. Blue Shoes and Happiness Scarf.

Monday, March 30, 2009. Dilly dilly and the lifestyle. How old do you have to be to remember the nursery song Lavender Blue? It goes "Lavender's blue, dilly dilly, lavender's green." So I named these socks Dilly after the color and to rhyme with the matching sweater I'm making that I call Jilly. More about Jilly later. I'm on the last sleeve. The pattern is Charlene Schurch's (aren't you tired of reading this illustrious name on my blog? What makes these socks a little interesting though is that this typ...

One woman's journey on the needles. I've decided to make a separate page to document my spinning projects as they happen, to keep it separate from the knitting stuff. My mind is terribly organised like that, just wish I was too lol. Couldn't resist this washed, dyed and carded Shetland from www.newmoorbarn.com. The painting is by Zinovii Sydoriv. Latest arrival, just landed on the doormat today - another Boreray fleece. Not sure I can keep away from the carders this evening! 100g of merino, titled 'Blaze'.

One woman's journey on the needles. Saturday, 22 February 2014. Well, new to me, that is; picked up a really useful pattern for three styles of mens' gloves in DK for only 20p. Although I know I can knit gloves without a pattern it's always useful to have a good apttern of a basic such as gloves for basing my own designs on. Very pleased :). Tuesday, 18 February 2014. Why bother knitting a scarf? Why indeed. confirms all my thoughts :). Monday, 17 February 2014. Sunday, 16 February 2014. Have finished on...
