Knitting Linguist

Monday, January 15, 2018. Recently, it's been sycamores. I never really paid attention to sycamores before, and then I noticed this one particular sycamore, which, having begun its life in the creek bottom, decided that it needed more. It has flung an arm up the bank of the river, planted it near the side of the trail, and hoisted itself for the skies. You have just got to admire a spirit like that! Nothing's going to stop that tree from claiming what it sees as its rightful share of sunshine. So for Chr...

Knitting Linguist: May 2014

http://knittinglinguist.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 19, 2014. Trying to get back in gear. And I am trying to get my head around how to work posting here into my life in a realistic way. Not yet sure how to do that (obviously), and I haven't taken any good pictures of knitted finished objects, even though I have been knitting. The latest is a little sweater. Other things have been happening around here that aren't knitting related. Just to show a few:. Photo removed for now). We also have a new family member:. I knew that it was fate. Which is ...

Knitting Linguist: November 2012

http://knittinglinguist.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Friday, November 23, 2012. That time of year. In order to get everything done, I am either working my way through the list of things that need to happen for me to make it to today, or, when I get a spare moment, I can decide whether I'm going to spend it with my family, or sleeping, or on the internet. Guess which two I tend to choose? Thus, blog silence. Speaking of doing, I have been doing knitting. The second pair of socks. Other things from this month? Walking on the beach: done. See my Ravelry page.

Knitting Linguist: Drive-by

http://knittinglinguist.blogspot.com/2013/10/drive-by.html

Saturday, October 5, 2013. This is a quick drive-by post, because I actually have two (! Finished objects to show, and because after this bit of time, the rest of the weekend is going to be a bit busy (play this afternoon, followed by office party in San Diego; tomorrow, Younger Daughter has a feis in Burbank, which is a schlep away). Of course, now that there are new warm things to wear, a Santa Ana has blown through. Humidity is in single digits, and it is warm warm warm. (Except when the sun g...Will ...

Knitting Linguist: April 2013

http://knittinglinguist.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 23, 2013. That really says everything I could have wanted to say, except more clearly. The weather has been a bit crazed. Lots and lots of fog for a long time. Is it just me, or does that look like Britain? That's one of my favorite places to hike. The other has been equally foggy - one morning it was so dense I couldn't see around the corner. But I did get one moment of clearing. It closed in again right away. And I've even found some Indian paintbrush (at least, I think that's what it is?

KnitRedSox: November 2011

http://knittingsoxfan.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 23, 2011. An unexpected moment of silence. But it felt great. Today I've made pumpkin bread pudding. A purely indulgent act, since I'm the only one who likes it), sourdough bread, and nanaimo bars. I've been to Michaels, with Younger Daughter (which means that I spent twice as much as I intended going in). I've been to the supermarket to get some things I forgot yesterday when I was at Whole Foods. I took the girls out to breakfast. Time to give thanks! Links to this post. This is a c...

Especially curious about the medium or heavyweight . Okay, now I'd really better go prepare for classes and meetings tomorrow . and figure out what I'm going to wear to chapel (I'm on duty Sunday nights this fall and that means going to chapel. Amber Purls (and Knits too): December 2009

http://amberpearl.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Amber Purls (and Knits too). Thursday, December 17, 2009. On the left above my DH June 1952 to August 2009. Sorely missed, there is a hole in my heart that will never heal. The suddenness of his death was such a huge shock to all, we are still trying to make some sense of it. I tried moving this photo but blogger is not cooperating today so I'll let it stay where it is. I'm looking at houses and have seen one that I am tempted to put an offer on, but it feels like a very big step. View my complete profile.

A Bitter Knitter: Drive By Blogging: Random Toddler Things

http://abitterknitter.blogspot.com/2014/02/drive-by-blogging-random-toddler-things.html

Drive By Blogging: Random Toddler Things. At the end of last year, I knit up a handful of little random things for my toddler. First is a big mouth monster:. The pattern is Rebecca Danger's Pocket-Sized Phone Friend. But I knit it out of bulky weight yarn held double on size 10 needles. He's big enough to hold all sorts of odds and ends that my toddler picks up. Second is a pair of slipper socks:. I improvised the pattern based on gauge and the size of her foot. She, of course, promptly outgrew them.

http://pammiesknits.blogspot.com/2013/03/disaster-and-cardboard-jungle.html

This is a blog for my friends and family that live far away from me, but are always asking about what I am knitting! Monday, March 18, 2013. Disaster and a Cardboard Jungle. This past weekend was Knit Camp. What is Knit Camp? It is what is sounds like, a sleep away camp, with cabins and a mess hall! Knit Camp itself was fun and I'm still glad I went. I made these little sheep for a purpose I didn't know about. They were game pieces for a game called Yarnopoly, created by Carol Myers! I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE...

For a long cardigan and a charcoal color (we couldn't have done that without ravelry) and i warned her it would be a long time coming since my queue was a bit overfull. Knowing how little i enjoy seaming, i knit the fronts and back as one piece to the armholes. Then it was easy as pie to bind off the shoulders together and sew in the sleeves. the shawl collar didn't give me any problems, and i liked that the cables were repeated in the collar. A flower and some ugly socks. Emails will be written! The fir...

Knitting Like Crazy

VIDEO: Craft With Me. Sure, I'm a knitter and crocheter, but I don't consider myself much of a crafter. Today, I'm sharing my attempt to use felt and glue on my Katrinkles. It turned out so cute! If you are reading this post via email. You can check out the video here. Yesterday I added the sixth and final pattern to the Nifty Gifty 2 eBook. Eudicots is a sideways-knit asymmetrical shawl. So, if you enjoyed knitting some of my other patterns that use this construction (like Hogmanay. But here's the thing...

Knitting Like Crazy

And now some not so lovely pictures. . . . May 4, 2007 by knittinglikecrazy. Well, thanks for all the wonderful comments on the shawl! I may have it make an appearance out and about this weekend, maybe. And, now I present the random little shrug I decided I wanted to knit (I am sorry for the bad pictures, but I was alone in the apartment and the battery was quickly dying on the camera). I made this for a couple of reasons:. 1 I wanted one and I thought maybe it would look good. Hey, I am a science person!
