In which I ramble on about my (non-work) life and hobbies. Monday, February 26, 2007. Stick a fork in them - these socks are done! Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Merino, Tropical Storm. Needles: US 1, bamboo dpns. Pattern notes and lessons learned: I designed and knit these socks for my Knitty. Sock Swap pal, Stephie26. They were toe-up (short row), with a Widdershins. Posted by Stephanie at 8:14 PM. Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Then what do I do? Hands are too cold to knit tonight, even though I've got...
What's a Stitch 'N Bitch, and how can I find one?: crochet_faq
http://crochet-faq.livejournal.com/8340.html
What's a Stitch 'N Bitch, and how can I find one? Stitch 'N Bitch is a term popularized by Debbie Stoller, author of Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook. And Stitch 'N Bitch Nation. Two very popular knitting books. Stoller's work is often listed as one of the contributors to the recent increase in interest in knitting and other fiber arts. (Stoller has a crochet book in the works, as well as a Stitch 'n Bitch design journal set to publish in April.). How can you find one? Post a new comment.

Will Ho For Yarn. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. My descent into idiocy. It is school time again. Time for plays and recitals and endless stretches of homework. Tonight while my family and I sat around the table eating dinner and helping the kids with their work I came to a stunning realization:. The older I get, the stupider I get. I used to be able to name every state capitol, and every state. I knew the capitals of all the Canadian provinces. I even knew a large portion of the world capitals. I may wet m...

When my friend Amy Tart found out she was pregnant I found myself thinking that I needed to create something to commemorate the occasion. I thought of purses in the shape of pies, or tarts and other items but nothing clicked. Then one day I was browsing yarn on eBay and saw a wonderful purplish color named Raspberry. I thought, I could knit her a raspberry beret. But then I thought, I could make a baby hat that looks like a little berry tart! It's so cute I could eat it. Tapestry needle for weaving ends.
Sticks and Thread: Learning new things
http://sticksandthread.blogspot.com/2007/08/hooks-and-wire.html
Friday, August 03, 2007. The summer of Rachel. I made some jewelry! Then it was time for some semi-instant gratification:. I taught myself crochet! Well, Debbie Stoller and interweave crochet taught me. I had absolutely no interest in crossing over to the other side of fiber arts until I saw this. The Babette Blanket. And it was like the clouds had parted and angel voices were singing from the heavens. I had to have it. (If you're still not convinced, check out these bad boys. I think I sounded a little ...
The Indecisiveness of Me: Diets, Sewing, and the Ulnar
http://darbyrose2000.blogspot.com/2007/11/diets-sewing-and-ulnar.html
The Indecisiveness of Me. Wednesday, November 28, 2007. Diets, Sewing, and the Ulnar. I'm glad I posted about the cholesteral check because I was trying to remember when the heck that was. I'm a happy camper on that score. So I am going to sew. And quilt. No, I cannot sew a straight line. Yes, quilting does seem to involve precise seams. I can learn. I learned to knit lace and socks, I can learn to sew. I started some Salt and Pepper mittens from Favorite Mittens last night. I have small hands, so no...
Knitty: Winter 2006 - editor

I would like to say that I knit these socks because I was inspired by falling leaves, the angles of tree branches as they part from mighty oaks in a V-shape, or allude to poetry and art. But let's face it: the true driving force behind these socks was ADDICTION. There was no other way to get them off my back than to knit them. The next thing I knew, after weeks of ripping and reknitting and ripping and reknitting (no less than four times, just ask my knitting group), I had a sock. John H., Cookie A.
Aoife cabled shrug - Winter 2007 - Knitty

By Axelle de Sauveterre. Every woman needs a black strappy dress as a wardrobe staple for glam-on-the-go. But on those nippy evenings when her date’s jacket simply won’t do in terms of style or warmth, she might happily reach for a soft feminine jacket of her own. The female Irish name Aoife (pronounced EE-feh) means radiant hopefully just what the wearer of this jacket ought to feel when it’s on! XS[S, M, L, 1X, 2X, 3X] (shown in size M). Chest: 30[34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54] inches. Sl next 3 sts to cable ...

Sam’s Monthly Photo. December 20, 2015. So, we attempted to get a good Christmas photo when the kids were all dressed up cute after church. Well, let’s just say there are a lot of outtakes. Merry Christmas, from the Tongs. And Effie’s new owl hat, just for good measure. December 16, 2015. I can think of nothing better than getting out needles and yarn, making a cuppa tea and getting stuck into this art form. Sadly I have done both my wrists in knitting too much! MY knitting is my own version of yoga. No "downward facing dog" for me, no sirree, give me a set of needles and a little yarn and I am a happy camper. I a little nuts where knitting is concerned.
