My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Monday, November 14, 2011. It's been a very long time since I've posted, but I feel like I need to start again. So to start off I'm going to tell you about my friend Crystal. Her dog ran away a couple weeks ago and when he was found he was in pretty bad shape and had to have surgery. Well we know surgery is expensive and the cost of his surgery was jaw-dropping! Crystal is a fabulous photographer and is selling these calendars. Jen over at Homemade by Jen.

Friday, March 6, 2009. Shop 'til she drops. She's a year old now (her birthday was on Tuesday), so she's not getting any bigger. But I don't think the bed is too big for her. And maybe she'll share with her little dog friends (there's room for all of the ankle biters - Dublin, Bailey and Bullet) ;). The Hook and I.

So Brett was a British soldier in the play. He was so cute! Thursday, January 22, 2009. So here's a few of the things I made for Christmas gifts. Gloria's socks (my mother-in-law). Mike's USC hat (brother-in-law). Kari's mini-sweater aka:shrug (sister-in-law). Ruth's socks (my step mom). How bad is it really?

My knitting and thoughts about living in Alaska. Thursday, February 19, 2009. Chairman of the Board. In the back of housing is the best hills and the kids love to go sledding back there. One of the kids' friends has a snowboard and let Ashley ride it. It's a special board I guess for kids, you don't need special boots, it has straps that you just put your feet into. I couldn't even think of when we made them, but eventually realized they were cookies that I made for Ashley's birthday. 1 month ago! Can you imagine how sad those poor little cookies must have been feeling? All this time, alone in the darkness of the cookie jar? Sad, very very sad. On the other hand, I think my hips are feeling grateful. The Hook and I.

It included some of the juiciest pears I've ever had. So good! But, there were a lot of them and there aren't a lot of us. So, I thought it better to bake something with them. And this pear custard pie. I don't have a pie plate (crazy, right? Good, easy, and so comforty (that's a word, right? Saturday, November 26, 2011. So, double yay!

Today was my official launching of the holiday season with my annual trek to the Showcase of Arts and Crafts. I usually end up with a bunch of soup, dip and/or jams (I'm a sucker for all the samples). Today I showed remarkable restraint! My favorite purchases were the 2 elephant grass baskets! I'd been wanting baskets like these for quite awhile and was surprised to see them at the show!
