Welcome to Muskoka's Original Woodturning Studio. Functional art, one-of-a-kind burl bowls, are turned by Don Thur from the most unique burls found in this legendary Ontario lakeland. Dating back to the beginning of habitation, and the tradition of the woodworking trade, these works have a museum-like quality, an art-gallery integrity, yet a functional capability for any appreciative household. I was extremely honoured to receive a commission from the Government of Canada to create the official gifts presented to the world leaders at the 2010 G-8 Summit in Muskoka. The 20 primary gifts were of a similar shape of Muskoka grown Maple, 7 high, 18 diameter while 10 secondary gifts were also of Muskoka maple, 4 high, 12 diameter. See National Post Article July 3, 2010. The piece was presented to President Barack Obama @ G8 2010. Comissioned by JLL Canada.
